Charlie sat in her room, she was currently wearing all black but didn't want to leave her room at all. Her dad had a bunk bed made specifically for Ava whenever she slept the night, which was so often. Now it felt so inappropriate to have the bunk bed in her room.
A knock came from her door and her father poked his head in, "Sweetheart, the funeral is going to start soon. We should head out."
"They're burying an empty coffin." Charlie bit out, she didn't really feel anything. Just empty and tired, "They gave up."
"It's been half a year-" Her father walked into the room and took a seat beside her, "Denise is tired, she just wants to put her daughter to rest. She wants closure."
"But Ava isn't in there! We don't know if she's actually dead or not." Charlie shifted further into her bed until her back was against the wall, she brought her knees up so they were pressed against her chest, "She's alive! I know it. She has to be alive."
Her dad simply pulled Charlie out from the corner and brought her in for a hug, despite Charlie trying to get out of it. She broke out in tears, giving up as she cried over her lost friend. Ava was her family and now she was gone.
Ava sat up in her bed with a long sigh, sleeping sucked now that Tissaia forced her to be up so early. She wasn't allowed to really do anything, but she did hear when the girl in the room next to her was first there. Ava heard broken glass and a scream, then nothing after that.
She moved from her bed and looked at herself in the mirror, she had no more makeup which was weird for her. Ava let a long sigh out again while she fixed her hair up into a ponytail. Just as she did that, Tissaia opened the door and looked at Ava.
Tissaia would not allow Ava to leave this room, she kept saying how she needed to get back home. So Tissaia wouldn't allow her to try and escape Aretuza, though, she could sense that the girl didn't just travel from one town to another.
"When you're ready, walk with piglet to the greenhouse in twenty minutes."
Ava didn't say anything just waited for Tissaia to leave before she walked out of her room, this was the first time she really got to look out of her room. She moved slowly with each step. She was hungry and tired, it was really cool at first but now she just wanted to see her mom. To see Charlie.
She knocked on the door, "Hello?" Ava pushed the door open, finding a girl seated on her bed with the same outfit as her own, "Uh, hi, I was told to walk with you to the greenhouse." She cleared her throat, "I'm Ava."
"Y-Yennefer..."
Ava simply smiled over at her, she saw how Yennefer was acting, very similar to Charlie after her first and only breakup, "It's nice to meet you, Yennefer. Can I call you Yen for short?"
"S-sure..."
Ava didn't even take in the fact that Yennefer had a hunch back and a deformity on her face, she reached out to her, "Come on, let's talk and walk."
