Waiting was nerve wracking vampires of all ages attacked the slayer. Going for her family, her friends and her lover but Buffy wasn't bowing down and wasn't going down without a fight if she died it'd be because she gave it her all and still wasn't strong enough. Although her favorite highlight from all this was staking Darla, or Angels sire, the way the smug vampire face contorted between pain and anger before he composed himself. Buffy and Giles were quietly stocking weapons Faith, Xander and Jesse whittled stakes Willow was using her big beautiful brain to try and gather as much information as possible for the upcoming battle tonight. Buffy stood in the center of her friends and cleared her throat "Okay guys just to make sure everyone knows the plan and understands their role. My mom understands somethings going on but she doesn't know what I'll explain to her about slaying and everything when I go home if I don't make it and we don't come back by tomorrow evening I want the you guys to explain everything to her. Willow, Jesse and Xander you will stay behind at my moms house protect them please you're trained and they don't even know what's happening" the gang nodded as Buffy continued "Faith ,Giles and I are infiltrating the lair we will meet Angel there stay safe hopefully all will go well" Giles smiles grimly at his slayer proud that she could take charge but worried about tonight's outcome. "Let's move out," Faith said they dropped the rest of the gang with Joyce "keep them safe we'll return soon" they nodded going inside. Giles took the lead from there leading them to Angel in front of the church "stay close there's only him and Luke down there; we'll distract him Buffy takes out the master" Angel says busting open the doors. Buffy taking the front Giles right behind her leaving Angel and Faith at the tail end. "Well it seems Angelous has brought me the remaining meals I need to be free" the croaky voice of the nasty looking vampire drawled out over the tunnel "or he brought me here to introduce you to the floor where you'll be nothing but dust bunnies" Buffy chirped walking to meet him head on. He used his powers to fling her away like a child but Buffy jumped up and started throwing her extra stakes to distract him while Giles fired the crossbow at him as rapidly as he could leaving her an opening but when she got close enough he grabbed her biting into her neck drink from her, whimpering she dropped to the ground as he released her. Falling into a puddle and inhaling the water Buffy breathing stopped the master started going into a long monologue forgetting he had two humans in the lair as well and that's all he needed to get out, Giles took the opportunity to turn Buffy over pulling his tie off he wrapped her neck then checked her pulse realizing she had a faint heart beat but she wasn't breathing giles began to pump her chest making sure to count the beats in his head before pushing his air into her lungs finally she shot up coughing up the water as the master continued his speech about the world being hells playground and Buffy shot up running at him with her stake out plunging it into his chest right through the heart yanking back she watched as he fell to ash. Walking to Giles she curled herself into his arms "Its all right Buffy nobody on our end is badly hurt or worse and you're fine but we need to leave and explain to you mother what going on Angel follow us we'll heal your arm from fighting Luke thank you for your help" Buffy nodded wrapping her arm around her cousin but still held in Giles embrace they walked out together and Giles drove them home but they all went into the house.
Joyce was up and at Buffy's side in second after seeing the shape she was in "Buffy I thought you said there'd be no more trouble here!" She exclaimed in worry "Ms. Summers I think it'd be better if you sat down so we could all explain what's going on it's something you need to hear something you already should've been informed about" Giles stayed calmly while sitting Buffy and Faith down on the couch pushing Angel down in an armchair to start working on his arm as Willow brought him a first aid kit. After Angels arm was stitched up Giles sat and heaved a sigh "I'm not only I librarian I'm what you'd call a watcher I train young women with certain abilities to fight the dark forces of evil but it is an honor to train an actual chosen slayer one that the powers that be pick. Your oldest daughter happens to be one of those girls you see the reason she had problems at her last school was vampires and tonight it was the same thing we can prove if you need proof." Joyce stares in shock before standing abruptly "you mean to tell me my daughter fights vampires are you insane or on drugs there's no such thing I think your a sick pervert who just wants in my daughters pants!" Joyce screams. Angel stands up directly in front of Joyce before lunging and fully vamping out Joyce screams as his face shifts and Buffy leaps to her feet tossing Angel across the room "that's my mom take it easy" she shouted grabbing her mother in a firm grip and sitting down with her "um yes that's what you would think of me until you saw that I'd say that's what your daughter fights nightly but also other demons." Giles rubs his glasses harshly Buffy grabbed his wrist "easy Giles it's ok she just didn't understand" "so that mans a vampire and you fight them you just threw him" Joyce chews at her thumb "Mr. Giles what's my daughters chance at survival how long do slayers normally live ?" "Ms.Summers I'm sorry to inform you but your daughter has already outlived the usual length of slayer life but I think bc she sets her own rules she'll survive much longer but I won't give you false hope very few slayers have made it to 18 and none beyond it" Joyce let out a strangled noise "no I won't let her do it anymore I forbid it she'll live as long as she stops" Buffy grabs her moms hands "I'm sorry mom but unfortunately they'd come after me regardless they know a slayer when they smell one and there no way to turn it off I can't quit I tried you're going to have to trust me I won tonight mom yes I got beat up but you were safe and so is the world no demons will walk the earth with free reign no he'll fire I have to fight it's my calling my burden" "I don't like it and don't expect me to support it but if you feel this strongly I'll turn a blind eye but you're my daughter Buffy I can't lose you I love you" Buffy and Joyce Hughes and the gang all found a place to sleep for the night to make sure no minions would be coming for revenge.
