The girls got ready and snuck out of Samantha's house.
"Guys, I'm not sure about this." Shylah said.
"Shy, don't be scared." Samantha replied. "We're already ready."
When they got halfway through the woods, Shylah said, "okay, it's not as bad as I thought, but, how long are we going to be out here?"
"Well, I was thinking, since mom gets up at 6am to go to work, we should start walking back at 4:30-5am." Samantha replied. "That way, we can act like we're asleep the whole night."
"So, you're not going to tell your mom about this?" Shylah asked.
"Of course not." Samantha replied. "My parents would kill me if they knew I came out here especially in the middle of the night."
"My parents would kill me if they found me out here, too. But, they're not here." Brianna said as she threw up a peace sign, chuckled and kept walking.
Shylah and Samantha followed her.
About 30 minutes later, Shylah said, "Can we go back now? I don't know if I can walk any further."
"Shylah, if you can walk for 2 hours in the Terry Fox Run, you can walk 30 minutes in the woods." Samantha said.
Shylah was about to speak when Brianna said, "guys, I think we should go back."
"See, I'm not the only person who can't walk further," Shylah replied.
"It's not that." Brianna replied. "Look, guys."
The girls saw something that scarred them for life.
