Tick. Tick. Tick.
You woke up on edge, you were used to not knowing where you would wake up but that didn't mean it was something you could possibly prepare for. A clock ticked away, the sound reverberating through your head, it being your main focus for the moment, considering the sound captured your attention first.
'Alright then, lets get to business.'
Even before you opened your eyes, you knew the drill. Study your surroundings, asses yourself, make an escape. The instructions, among many others, had been drilled into your head for years, to the point of becoming a subconscious habit.
You kept very still in the bed you were currently on, already noticing the thin, scratchy feel of the sheets on your skin and firm mattress beneath you. You remained unmoving, breathing level, eyes shifting lightly behind your lids. If someone were in the room with you, there would be no tell tale signs that you had woken up at all.
There were no restraints on your person as far as you could tell, and your thoughts were coherent, so most likely there weren't any disabling drugs in your system. You felt as your ears strained listening for any sound that would indicate you weren't alone. There was nothing. No sniffles, no breathing, no footsteps, nothing. You held your breath, counting 10 Mississippi's before you slowly peeled your eyes open.
Your eye lids felt like they had been glued shut with chunky peanut butter, which wasn't at all a pleasant feeling, although it could be worse. Your eyes scanned the room. Once again, you observed before you even dared to make a move.
It was a small room. There was a desk right beside the bed you were in and on the other side, a privacy curtain, blocking off the rest of the room. You focused on what you could see.
The walls were a plain pale blue color and there was a single door a bit past the desk.
'One exit, huh?' You muttered to yourself before carefully sitting up and taking a look at yourself. You had been changed since you last saw yourself.
Wait. When did- you last see yourself? What happened within the last 24 hours?
There was running, definitely, or else your lungs and legs wouldn't be in as much pain as they were at the moment. What else? There was—
"I'm at a bit of a loss here, Nezu. I'm not exactly sure what I'm working with." Voices echoed a little too close to the room you were in causing you to whip your head towards the door, no doubt whoever it was would be walking past this room.
"What do you mean?" This "Nezu" person spoke, replying to them.
Steadying your breaths, you sat still, listening.
"Her quirk seems to be a bit different from what I'm used to working with, I'm sure I can figure it out, but I'd have to run a few experiments."
Your mind blanked. Without thinking, you slid the needles that had been connected to your arms out and hopped off the bed, your bare feet hitting the cold linoleum flooring.
The sudden chill from coming out from under the blanket had shocked your brain out of autopilot, but your body was still in 100% panic mode. Your mind, however, kept deadly calm, subconsciously knowing that would be the best mindset to have if you wanted to get out of there.
The two people continued speaking, getting closer. Their voices barely registering as speech to you and being used only as a timer. They'd reach your room in approximately 11 seconds.
You turned towards the opposite side of the room, shooting an undeserving glare at the separation curtain. Quickly, your nimble body moved around the bed to the curtain, pushing it aside to reveal another bed and another curtain. However, this curtain was on a wall and small amounts of light leaked out from the sides.
