Wrappers, bags and crumbs littered the small coffee table. Tasty sweets and foods scattered among the bunch, some with a few bite marks and others fully consumed. El had already eaten a good load of it, but she was still incredibly bored.
She stared in concentration at the Millenium Falcon, watching as it hovered a few feet in the air from where she was sitting on the ground. She took her attention off of it, too bored to continue entertaining the idea that Dustin had drilled into her head that morning. The Falcon fell to the ground, somehow still in one piece.
She reached behind her, grabbing the supercomm, turning a knob and hearing a static. She looked up in annoyance and sighed before putting it down. Her attention was drawn to the staircase upstairs and a smile graced her face.
She climbed the stairs, then cautiously peeked her head out the door, making sure that no one was home. Propping her legs up onto the Laz-Boy chair, she pulled the lever, just like what Mike taught her to do. She sat in it for a moment, rocking back and forth with the momentum. She picked up a phone on a nearby coffee table, and put it to her ear, hearing a dial tone ring out of it. She hummed, mimicking the noise.
Walking around the living room, she walked in the direction of the television set. She kneeled before it, tracing the screen and buttons with a lone finger. Turning the TV on, she clicked the buttons, flipping the channel before stopping on a particular commercial.
On the beach and in the sun
The real thing is so much fun
All the times of your life
And the things that you do
Coke is right there with you
Her eyes became unfocused as she stared at the pixelated commercial. Slowly, her eyes closed and she was knocked out of conscious and into a flashback.

She's back to wearing a hospital gown, a wired headset is on her head and she's sitting at a table with a single coke can. She's in a room, and through the glass window, she can see Dr. Brenner and a couple of scientists. In the far corner of the room, a camera stands on a tripod, filming her. She pays it no mind, only focusing her attention on her Papa.
The machine beeps and the devices hum with the sound of electricity. Her Papa hands a clipboard over to a nearby scientist and he gives her the faintest nod.
Hands splayed on the table, she stares at the coke can. Her face is quirked in concentration, eyes narrowed, mouth in a thin line. She strains, using her abilities to her fullest potential.
An EEG that is being monitored by a scientist, starts to record her brain activity. Suddenly, the pattern is more consistent, the waves are closer together and more rapid and frequent. It beeps quickly and loudly, signalling the concentration and effort that she's exerting. Finally, the can crushes and she looks up to her Papa in affirmation.
He smiles at her. For once, El is happy. She smiles back when she feels something from her nose. She lifts a finger up, swiping across, to find a sanguine substance on her hand.
Blood.
She looks back up, but her Papa doesn't seem to mind or care. He smiles at her again.
Coke is it! Coke is it!
El stares at the screen, then shuts it off. Breathing heavily, she stands up and leaves the TV.

The sound of a cardboard box being dragged around by Joyce is the only sound in the house. Labeled on the box is X-MAS, storing decorations of all sorts. She rummages through it, digging in until she finds the thing she was looking for, a bundle of christmas lights.
