"we need to pull the plug. he's been on life support for almost seven months. he's already long gone." wendy spoke sadly to corbyn. he was staring at daniel's lifeless body, a machine controlling his breathing. wendy came up to new york, after hearing the news. she had a soft spot for her boys that she met when daniel was only a few weeks pregnant with alex.

"um.." his voice was raspy from the screaming and crying he did in the last hour on the beach. wendy seemed to understand, leaving the room.

corbyn licked his extremely chapped lips, standing up with wobbly knees. he stumbled over to the bed, gripping daniel's cold hand. "i understand.." he forced himself to swallow, his bottom lip wobbling. "i understand you're in pain. i understand you.. you need to go," corbyn sucked in a breath. "i'm not mad. i'm not. i'm not sure if i'm happy you'll be free or not but i'm.. we'll be okay." he bit his lip. "we'll be okay." he repeated.

he sat on the bed, bringing his limp hand to his lips, kissing his dry knuckles. "daniel, i've cherished every single moment with you. even the bad ones. the laughs, the kisses, the kids, i won't ever have a bond like that again. i can't. you mean so much to me, i love you so much. as much as it will pain me to let you go, it's for the best." he whispered, wiping his cheeks with his shoulder. "thank you for all the amazing memories. your pain will be gone now, baby boy. you'll be free from all of it."

moments later, his eyes slipped shut upon hearing the flatline.

wendy came back into the room, tears filling her brown eyes. she turned the machine off, taking the tube out of his mouth.

daniel let out a long exhale. corbyn let out a choked sob, bringing his lifeless body into a bone crushing hug. their families and the boy's were all crying, seeing daniel— their best friend, their son, their brother, their father: dead.

he was gone.

(and if you think corbyn broke down even more seeing his family and the boys saying goodbye to daniel— you would be completely right.)
