"I'm flying to Egypt next week and I need to find Emily before I go", Maxwell said to Bryan. They were at the statehouse in the president's office. Then Bryan remembered . He forgot to tell the president about that mysterious call.
"Sir earlier when I was coming back from the econet shop...someone called on your old number", Bryan started talking and Maxwell listened carefully. Who would call him on that old number. And during those years only a few people owned cell phones.
"Did you answer it?", Maxwell asked.
"Yes I did but the person went silent...they did not respond".
"Where is the phone...I will call back the number. I need to know who it is", Maxwell said and Bryan fished out the phone from his pocket and he handed it to the president. Maxwell dialed the number and it ringed.
"Hello...", a faint female voice answered. The volume was loud enough for Bryan to hear. The two man looked at each other. It was clear in Bryan ' s eyes that the president was scared. He was scared of what awaits him.
"Hello...you called earlier...who am I speaking to?", Maxwell asked. Then silence took over.
"Hello...?", Maxwell said again.
"My name is Faith...I am Emily's daughter. By chance are you a friend of my mother?", Maxwell felt his heart sinking. He is currently talking to his daughter. His daughter ! Emily's daughter!. Maxwell had a lot to ask her. Where was Emily. Why was she calling instead of her. But surely he couldn't ask her over the phone. He was going to meet her.
"Darling please...let's meet up in town at lunchtime if you are able to. Wait for me at Eastgate", Maxwell said.
"Okay...", Maxwell hung up the phone as soon as Faith said the okay word. He was going to meet his daughter. He was excited....way too excited. But he was scared. How was he going to make up for the lost time. Would she open up to him and call him daddy. After all she grew up without a father. He couldn't imagine the kind of life she led. The thought alone was enough to drive him insane.
"Looks like the two of us have to go out again Bryan. You are the only one I trust in this"
"Very well sir", the bodyguard replied.
Maxwell thought of his Amanda. Amanda...how was he going to break the news to her. He couldn't hide this fact to her. He needed to tell her. And he was going to do just that as soon as he is sure that the girl is really his daughter. His wife did not deserve to be left out in the dark. But how was he going to react if he were to meet Emily. He had to admit that he did love Emily. Back then she was the only woman for him....but the question now is.... does he still love her?. Well he doesn't know. He would have to see her again and clarify if he still loves her.
But then again there is Amanda. Yes...his marriage with her was arranged but he developed feelings for the woman. Strong feelings that he couldn't deny.He loved his wife!...he almost jumped when he realised that fact. And suddenly he felt bad. He had never expressed these feelings to his wife.
Surely he will have to fix that.

Faith didn't know what to feel. Was she happy...was she sad?. She wished she had another option. If she had another choice she would definitely not choose to go to the president. If she knew any of her mother's relatives then maybe she would try to contact them...but she didn't. Her mother was definitely trying to hide something and she was eager to find out what it was. What was she hiding and who was she running from?
She checked the time and it was already near noon. She needs to pack up and meet the president at the said place.
There weren't anything fancy to pack. She only had a few clothes and she packed them. Her oversized skirts and t-shirts. Her late grandma's stuff were taken by her relatives. Her clothes and her pots so there weren't anything in the room that they rented. They only left her with a blanket and her own clothes.
