Warnings: None

2017, Ego's Planet.

Quill's POV:

The ground around my father and I started crumbling apart as the bomb was about to go off. I held my father down on the ground so he wouldn't escape.

"Listen to me! You are a god!" My father shouted. "If you kill me, you'll be just like everyone else!"

"What's wrong with that?" I asked him.

"No!!"

The timer reached zero as everything started blowing up. My father disintegrates and the light disappears from my hands. It was then that I realized that I couldn't escape. I stood there, waiting until Yondu showed up and picked me up off the ground.

"He may have been your father boy; but he ain't your daddy." He said to me as we continued to rise up, the planet exploding underneath us. "I'm sorry I didn't do it right. But I'm lucky you're my boy."

I smiled. But Yondu then placed a spacesuit on me.

"What?!" I asked, confused.

Yondu holds me as we keep flying out of the atmosphere of the planet.

"Yondu! You can't! What are you doing?!" I said before realizing what he was doing.

We float there in space as Yondu starts freezing.

"Yondu! No!! No!!!" I exclaimed, not wanting him to die.

But it was too late. The ship came and picked me up and Yondu, the man who raised me, was gone.

***

After Yondu's funeral on the ship, Kraglin walks up to me.

"Cap'n found this. Said one day you'd come back to fold." He said as he handed me a device. "It's called a Zune. It's what everyone listens to these days. It's got 300 songs on it."

Kraglin turns to leave but I stop him. I grab Yondu's arrow and handed it to him.

"Rocket reassembled the pieces. I think Yondu would want you to have it." I said as Kraglin took the arrow.

"Thank you; Cap'n." He said to me and he leaves the room.

I turned and opened a door in the ship and saw Alexis sitting there, all by herself. I walked up to her and she looks up, noticing me.

"Hey Quill..." She said.

"Hey. Everything okay?" I asked, seeing a bit of sadness in her face. She looks away.

"I was just thinking about... my sister, back at home." She answered.

I sat down next to her and put my hand on her shoulder.

"I always wonder how she might be doing, how my mom and my dad might be doing... without me."

I could see her start to break down a little.

"And sometimes, I wonder if I'm just weighing the team down." She said, a tear falling down her face.

I stopped her and turned her head to me, but she turned away.

"I don't think you're weighing us down at all." I said, smiling.

She turns to me and forms a tiny smile, which fades away after a few seconds.

"Rocket and Drax are just jealous of you and your powers." I point out, knowing that it would make her feel better.

She turns back to me. I put my thumbs on her eyes to wipe the tears on her face.
