Quill's POV:
"Now, you want to talk about that dream you said you had?" I asked Alexis when she put her newly upgraded stick in her pocket.
Alexis turned away and made a 'not sure how to explain it' face and held a finger up. After a few seconds, she put her finger down and looked at me.
"It was really weird... because I woke up... but not on the ship. I was like in the clouds or something." She finally answered.
I gave her a confused look before she continued.
"And no one was around... except for two people; and they looked like my mom and dad." She added, shaking her head in confusion herself. "At least... since the last time I saw them.."
"Which was..." I said, forgetting when she had last seen her parents.
"6 years ago. I was 4 years old when I got kidnapped." She answered.
"Right..." I said awkwardly. "Go on."
"It felt so real to me and it felt like I was somehow really talking to my parents in my dreams..." Alexis said, tilting her head down.
I got worried; because every time she puts her head down, it's because something happened.
"But when I asked about my sister, my parents told me that they both died in a car accident a few weeks after I was gone." Alexis finished.
I reached my hand out for her and grabbed it. Alexis moved her chair a little closer to me and a little smile formed on her face.
"I had to watch my mother die; and you know what happened to my father." I commented.
Alexis looked up at me and smiled, appreciating my comment.
"My sister lived with my grandpa for 4 years but he died of... a heart attack I think it was." She added.
I scooted her chair slightly closer to me and ran my fingers through her hair, which made her smile.
"Well, now at least you have a family." I stated.
She stood up and hugged me; probably didn't expect me to say that to her. I really like having her around and I think she really enjoyed my company.
"I don't know what I'd do without you." She whispered before pulling away from me and sitting back down.
She put her head down and immediately shooting it upwards, trying (and failing) not to fall asleep.
I grabbed her hand and we went towards the door. I quietly opened it and we both went into the sleeping quarters. Alexis went towards her bed and climbed in, pulling her blankets up. On the wall above her bed, there was a tiny photograph.
"What is that?" I whispered to Alexis, pointing at the photograph.
"Family photo from a year before I got taken. It's the only memory I have left of my family." She whispered, looking over at the small photograph.
I nodded before moving some of her hair out of her face.
"See you tomorrow Alexis." I said as I stood up.
