Elizabeth's pov

We all walked into the building towards the control panel. Dad walked over to us. He smirked, "Gentlemen," Steve handed him some money which caused me to raise an eyebrow.

Dad walked over to me and Bruce. He held his hand out, "doctor, thank you for coming." Bruce scoffed, "thanks for asking nicely. So uh how long am I staying?" I looked at them both confused. Dad shrugged, "once we get our hands on the tesseract you're in the wind." I quietly walked out of the room and back towards the conference room.

As Director Furry turned around, "El, could you take-." As he turned around fully he noticed that his daughter wasn't there. She wasn't in the room at all. Furry scoffed, "Agent Romanoff, will you please escort Dr. Banner to my daughter so she can accompany him to his Lab. I have a different assignment for you after." Natasha nodded once before she started a conversation with the Dr.

Elizabeth's pov

I was looking at the file on the mission. Clint's face with his information all there. In big red letters the word compromised glared at me. I suddenly heard the door open and shut. I looked up to find Nat and Bruce standing there.

Nat raised an eyebrow at me, "where did you get that?" I looked at her with tears in my eyes, "where do you think?" She sighed, "how did you even find my room?" I smiled softly at her, "I could sense it." She sighed, "we're going to get him back. El, you have to stay focused." I felt my lip quiver, "how? How do I ignore the fact that he's in danger? That I might never get to tell him I love him again or that I appreciate all the sacrifices he's made for me or how sorry I am for being such a terrible soulmate. I-I can't. Nat, I can't do this. Why did he bring me in when he knew I wouldn't be able to do this? He knew i wouldn't be able to deal with the fact that Clint is gone- what will happen if I have to fight him? Or he tried to kill one of us? I-I couldn't take him out. T-this isn't-." She pulled me into her arms, "hey, I know. Baby, I've got you. It's all going to be okay." I shook my head and cried.

A knock on the door made us pull apart. A lady came in and said, "I'm sorry to interrupt but Director furry would like to see you, Agent Romanoff." Nat kissed my head, "I'll see you later." I nodded. She smiled, "you have to show the Doctor his Lab." I nodded.

As soon as she left I closed the folder and rapped my arms around my self. Bruce went to place a hand on my arm, "are you okay?"  I stepped back before he could touch me, "I'm fine." He frowned, "are you sure?" I nodded once.

I started walking towards the door, "let's go." He sighed, "are you sure-." "I'm fine Dr. Banner, don't worry we will find the cube so you can get out of here as soon as possible."

I didn't notice that he had stopped walking and was looking at me confused. I heard him grumble something before he said,  "wait." I shook my head and kept walking. He easily caught up to me, "Elizabeth, hold on." He breathed through my nose and rolled my eyes. He grabbed my arm and spun me around, "let's talk about this." I gave a shocked laugh, "talk about this. You want to talk about this? There's nothing to talk about Dr. Banner, you'll be leaving soon enough. Back to saving lives."

He sighed, "please, stop trying to pick a fight." I shook my head, "I'm not. Here's your lab. I hope you enjoy it." I went to pull my arm away when he grabbed my waist and pulled me into him so we were chest to chest. I put my hands against his chest and looked away from his eyes.

He raised an eyebrow, "why are you pushing me away?" I bit my cheek. He tilted my chin up, "is it because of what happened to Clint?" I huffed. He sighed, "Elizabeth?" I shook my head, "your just going to leave. Why should I get close to you? Why should I let you in when you can't even stand to be here with me?" He creased my cheek and smiled softly at me, "that has nothing to do with you, angel. I want to be with you as much as I can. Me being around a bunch of people thousands of feet in the air isn't safe. I uh I need to protect you from the other guy."
