Finally Out!

It's Friday morning, my flight is at 7 AM and it's 5 AM now. I get up and I make sure I have everything I need. Luckily one of my neighbors needed some lawn work done yesterday and he paid me $200! I didn't even do that much, he's old and when I told him I was leaving he wanted to help so I guess I didn't have a choice but to take what he gave me, this should cover some breakfast and the luggage fees.

I get up and I go to my mom's room, she is still awake and I knock on her door, this is her final chance to tell me she is sorry. She tells me to enter the room and I enter the room, "Where are you off too?" "I told you I'm moving to Korea with dad, I'm going to study there and you can't stop me, but I'm giving you a chance to apologize to me." "Why would I apologize to you? You are the failure, you should apologize to me!" " Yes mother I'm sorry that I never was able to get help in school to pass my classes, I'm sorry that you would bring people home while I was trying to do my homework. So I'm sorry for trying to study in a house of hell. I'll write to you."

I walked out of the doorway and she didn't try and stop me. She silently bowed her head, like she realized she messed up. I took a deep breath and hold back tears, I may hate her at the moment, but deep down do love her. This is best for the both of us I tell myself. I look down at my phone and see that it is 6:30 am and I head for the door and the old man that paid me $200 offered me a ride to the airport and he told me that he would be there at 6, I'm running late as usual.  Thankfully he is sitting out there and he told me that I would make it in South Korea and if I needed anything from the US all I had to do was call.  His name was Luke, he 72 years old. He is a guy you went to when you wanted someone to talk to or needed anything.

I got there about ten minutes later and thankfully there wasn't a lot of people and I got through fast. I look back at Luke and he says "you got this Star." He gave me that nickname when I was young because he thought he saw stars in my eyes. I run back and hug him and tell him to take care of my mom if she got help.

I look down at my ticket and I get on the plane and I wanted to turn around and get off, but if I did that I would've gone back to the life I hated and the plane took off and the first thing I thought of before I went to sleep as I was finally out.

I was woken up by a flight attendant that was Korean and she asked me if my Korean was decent and I started talking to her and she was shocked that I knew so much. "How do you know so much?" "My father lives in South Korea, and he taught me how to speak over the phone." She smiled and went on about her business and then I fell back to sleep thinking I was going to be okay.

"Thank you for flying with us!" Was what I heard over the excitement. I got my carry-on bag and I went into the airport and got the rest of my things. I looked around and this airport was HUGE! This airport was bigger than my city at home! I felt like I was finally going to have a good life. I heard my name, "Kaila!" I turn and I see my dad for the first time in ten years. I start running to him and I jump in his arms. I can hear him crying and that makes me cry. "I haven't seen you in so long; you look just like your mother!" He hugs me tighter and he lets me go and we go to his car and he takes me to his house, and let me tell you his house was way better than moms.  "I have food in the fridge and you start school on Monday and today is Saturday." "What that doesn't make any sense." "One day ahead." That was something I had to get used to. He shows me to my room and it's already decorated for me. EXO and GOT7 everywhere. "Oh my god! Dad, how did you know?" "I heard you listen to these boy bands when I would teach you how to draw, I pay attention." This makes me happy, but I'm so tired and I want to get some rest." He nods and closes the door behind him. "One thing, Luke?" "Still alive, and still calls me Star." "Thought so, get some rest sweetheart. I'll wake you up when I start making dinner. Also, there is a new phone on a charge on the nightstand for you. I had to get you one with a Korean number so you can keep the other one, but you won't be able to make calls." "Okay, thanks, dad." I unpack what I felt like unpacking and i went laid in bed and it was so quiet and I fell asleep very fast.
