Chapter 3 - Pay Attention

~Len's POV~

"And so with that being said, welcome to Melodious Summer Camp!" Cheered Misaki, the camp counselor.
Everyone clapped and laughed. I looked at the ground. Every single person had at least one friend here. Except for me. I was alone. Is that how this entire summer would be? Alone like always?
"Our first activity of the day will be rock climbing! Please make your way to the giant, obvious rock!"
The crowd followed.

'Rock climbing... Oh boy, won't this be fun...'

Misaki explained the rules and dangers, but I wasn't listening. Not like I was gonna go up there, right?
"We need two people who volunteer to climb the rock first!"
Girls started screaming, but all the guys seemed uninterested in the activity.
"Wow! So many people! This is great! Let's see.... You!"
I watched as Misaki pointed to a random girl in the crowd.
"What's your name?" Misaki asked.
"My name is (Y/N)!" She laughed, walking on stage.
After getting a good look at the girl, I was in shock.

'It's the klutzy girl!!!'

I facepalmed and sighed.
"Well, someone's gonna get hurt during this..." I whispered.
"We need one more volunteer!" Misaki cheered, throwing a fist in the air. "How about.... You!"
All eyes fell on me.
"Wait what-?" I asked in disbelief.
"C'mon on stage!" The bubbly counselor laughed.
I rolled my eyes and walked on stage. "I don't wanna do thi-"
Misaki pushed a harness into my arms. "Put this on!"
I looked at the harness in annoyance.
"This better be the best harness ever, or I'm gonna die." I mumbled.
The Klutz Girl waved at me happily. "Hey! You're the guy-"
"You ran into yesterday, yeah." I interrupted.
"You're still upset about that? I said sorry a bajillion times." She stared, puffing her cheeks up and crossing her arms.
I put on the harness. "You better not kill me, klutz."
"I'll try my best!" She laughed, playfully shoving me.
I walked away and placed the helmet on my head. Misaki gave us some more info and helped us set everything up.
"Okay, (Y/N), you climb first! Readysetgo!" The counselor said with a smile.
(Y/N) tried her best climb up the rock. I carefully watched her, hoping she wouldn't fall. (Y/N) missed a step, causing everyone to gasp.
"Be careful, idiot!!!" I screamed.
"Aw! You care about me!" She laughed.
I rolled my eyes as (Y/N) continued.

And that's when it happened.

(Y/N) slipped, and her rope cut on a sharp edge. Everyone started screaming as (Y/N) continued to fall.

~(Y/N)'s POV~

I shut my eyes tight. This was it for me. I braved myself for the harsh impact. But it never came. I reluctantly opened my eyes to see that I had in fact fallen. I looked beside me to find myself in the blonde's arms- well, one of them anyway. He was on both knees, and one hand kept him from falling face first to the ground. The boy was out of breath. I quickly stood to my feet.
"I'm SO sorry! I didn't mean to do that! It was an-"
"An accident, yeah I know!" He yelled, standing up and glaring at me. "Be more careful!!! You could've gotten me or yourself hurt!"
"I-I know! I didn't-" I stuttered.
The boy rolled his eyes and took off his harness.
"I'm sorry, really... I didn't mean for the rope to cut!"
"Someone could've gotten killed today, (Y/N). Pay attention to what you're doing, idiot..." He said harshly.
I looked out the crowd to find everyone staring at me. I ran as fast as I could to my cabin. Sitting on my bed, I held back tears.

"Someone could've gotten killed today."
