She had taken advantage of the situation and tried to make a signal to alert the government where she was.  In the process of trying to send them as many photos as possible, she had been caught by Stanley who had walked back in to light his pipe.

"You can't do that. You can't call anyone from here. There is no signal unless you make your own." he said smoking casually not even alarmed to find her not locked out.

" Oh!" she had replied approaching him in a seductive way.

"Just don't. You gave birth naturally we all know. I do want my lady to heal first. So what are you doing reading my books?" he had asked. Still looking not alarmed.

"Reading. Trying to understand what you are doing to my son." she replied boldly.

"I don't want them to do anything to your kid. You are my special and so is he but it just proves that your kid just responded well to our injections. Best one of all time. Whose the father?"

He had asked her. She had decided not to talk about her real life and said it was some random guy she couldn't even remember. All happened in one of her many attended parties.

He had laughed at that. Wicked man!

The signal had failed and she had decided to win Stanley's trust so she could be allowed in his research room alot which worked out well.

In the days that followed she spent them making a signal each time a fail. Then one day she asked him to show her the sunlight. She missed that. He had dutifully take her there at the entrance to the banker where she had secretly thrown the location detector without Stanley noticing.

Unfortunately someone had seen it on their way back and a meeting was called.

"we are compromised! We have to vacate as soon as we can!" Stanley had announced.

Fear gripped Cathy at the thought of losing her child and the detector being of no help. CCTVs  were pulled out and Cathy was the suspect. She was immediately tied down and thrown in a cold room.

On the other side of the window, she could hear Stanley's voice.

"I know my kind when I meet them. Which sergeant were you serving? Which squad? Who sent you? But well, you can't answer that Catherine. Can you?" he had poked her senses.

She felt exposed, vulnerable, she said nothing. They tortured her, electrocuted on the fingers and pulled on the toes. In that pulling she had lost a toe.

" Fuck off! Am telling you nothing! "

Suddenly someone had shouted they were under attack. She could smell smoke and hear gun shots. Only shouts could be heard as the men torturing her ran off.

"Kill her! We move to the new ground now!" Stanley had shouted. One of the guys had shot back and didn't look at his aim. He had shot the locks that opened up and dropped her to the floor. She was free but in too much pain. She couldn't walk. She crawled out towards the babies section. Men ran around scared. Pulling out plugs and firing. In the course of it she got shot on the shoulder.

She got to the bed but the baby had been moved. The incubators had been turned off and small machines installed under each babies bed were signaling red. They had killed them all. She went looking around but her baby wasn't among them. She had bleeded alot and lost contact with her vision and dropped on the floor.

Next time she woke up she was in a hospital. She had been in a two months coma. Officers were around her congratulating her. Deep down she felt empty, her baby had not been found. Every time she walked around and saw a baby , her motherly instincts knocked. She would have a strong urge to hold the baby.

She had therapy sessions which showed she was improving from her shock. Within no time she was back at work. Then that's when an announcement came. She had become the first female DCI in the country and mostly African nations. Women were rarely allowed to be part of the police or army in that century but she had proven them wrong.

The only baby who had survived was a baby boy, not hers definitely but she decided to adobt him. The whole mission had been a success and she was presented with so many humanity awards.

She had named the baby Epy. Mostly because it sounded like a baby bubbling out the word "Happy" and after herself, mum and dad. She raised him with a different story. Tormenting Epy was not her call. She had protected him as he grew up. Gave him the best there was to offer. She had tried to trace his parents but found nothing. No record.

Ephy had tried to but found nothing. He had almost filled the gap her baby had left but not fully. Due to the torments during her pregnancy days, she had sworn never to carry another. It had turned out too remorseful.....
