"Guys!" I exclaimed slamming my locker shut.
Harper tossed her books into the air and flew down onto the floor face first then covered her head. Audrey just stood there arms folded staring at our dumb best friend laying on the floor.
"Now look what you've done," Audrey began nonchalantly, "You made her go into turtle mode."
I rolled my eyes as I clipped the padlock on my locker not wanting to say something that would make the situation worse. So I gave out a command.
"Harper! Get your ass off the floor!" I shouted watching her still laying in a shell.
Harper shook her head furiously. "I'm sorry Brianna, you know once I hear loud noises I get scared."
Audrey puffed out in annoyance. "Harper, you have to get a hold of yourself. You fucking seventeen not five."
I nodded in agreement at Audrey harsh but necessary words. Harper was a beautiful, well developed teenager but sometimes she behaved like a toddler who is constantly on crack.
Harper sprang to her feet after a second or two, she gathered her books that she had tossed across the hall then joined us next to my locker once again.
"So Brie? What was that exclamation all about?" Audrey asked, pulling her hair behind her ears.
Right! The reason why I shouted in the first place!
I opened my mouth wide to breath in for me to begin my usual ramble but something other than air went down my throat. It felt like a bug! Or a wasp! So I doubled over and began gag coughing.
Harper held me and patted my back until I felt that my lungs now longer contained an insect or any oxygen whatsoever. After that whole debacle I was finally able to proclaim my reason for early excitement.
"My s-hort story got 400 notes on Tumblr!" I exclaimed triumphantly.
Audrey's mouth twitched as she gave me an indifferent glare. I mean, I'd thought she'd be so much more happier for me. But then again, it was Audrey. She never gave a rat's ass about anything interesting. Well Interesting to other people than herself.
"Really, we had to endure Harper freaking out into turtle mode just for that news?"
I folded my arms defiantly. "Yeah, so."
Audrey stared at me for a second. She nibbled on her bottom lip as she often did when she was bored or annoyed. In this case she was probably both. After a moment of two she smirked and flew her arms around my shoulder.
"Come on girl! Let's head to lunch," she declared as she turned my body in the direction of the outside.
Harper followed silently behind not before asking, "Hey? Where Mabel?"
Mabel was our other friend that completed this little possy of sickeningly normal teenage girls in a public prep highschool. Wow, that was a mouthful and them some.
Anyhow, out of all of us she seemed to be the most normal. Average grades, average looks, adequate make-up skills etc. But she had one thing going for her, she was a serious flirt.
"Last I saw her she was at the fountain near the second science lab," Harper informed us both and Audrey nodded in agreement.
I rolled my eyes in a complete circle. "Let me guess, she was chatting up some guy."
Audrey gave both of us a crooked grin which made me want to laugh because of how she looked from my angle.
"You guessed it! And today you win an all expense paid trip to the teacher's lounge refrigerator where you are allowed to steal three teacher's lunches."
