Zanpakuto, they are unique... eternally so. When Oetsu Nimaiya forged the first Asauchi into a blade, it was a revolution in the powers of Soul Reaper capability.. but it became even more revolutionary when the Lance of Gungnir was invented.. the first Zanpakuto to be forged from a non Assuachi soul. It is safe to say that any sort of study into the art of Zanpakuto forging would be more interesting then all the projects this city has seen in all the years it has existed

The 5 year old Mikoto Misaka was looking into the hand mirror in her hands with completely innocent curiousity. As she looked in the mirror, she could see images of strange people she had never before seen in her life.. A scarlet haired girl with armor.. a boy with pink hair and a rambunctious personality.. so many strange people.. flashing in and out of the mirror.

She stood in the middle of a deserted alleyway.. and behind her stood the beautiful Numensapien named Amor Caritas.. someone who had been Mikoto's mother.. in another past life..

"Hello little one.. do you like my mirror?" Amor asked with gentle cheer. "They say that if you look into it.. you can see all the people that are precious to you.. past, present, and future.."

Mikoto laughed cheerfully and pointed at the scarlet haired girl. "She's pretty.. "

"Yep.." said Amor as she put a hand on Mikoto's shoulder and managed to see who she was to refering to. "You're looking at Erza Scarlet.. she's a brave warrior who can use magic..."

"Magic.." Mikoto said, her eyes going wide with wonder. "Are you magic?"

Amor chuckled. "Oh yes! You can say that.. and you are too!"

"Really!?" Mikoto said. "Is it because I can do this!?"

Mikoto put her finger up, and a few weak sparks shot out of her finger...

"Well.. not quite.." said Amor with a smile, putting a hand on Mikoto's shoulder. "Listen well sweetie.. years from now.. you won't even remember us meeting here... but.. no matter where you go.. I'll always be watching over you.. just keep that mirror close.. and should you ever need it.. help will come.."

"Whose that?" Mikoto asked, pointing at the image of a boy with black spikey hair who seemed to be accompanying a small nun...

"That.." said Amor. "Is somebody really special..."

Present day

Eolas staggered away from the hand mirror he had picked up.. breathing hard. It had happened so quickly. He had gone outside to look for the Captain that was supposedly wanting to speak with him.. but.. he had found nobody there... except he found a hand mirror in the middle of the street.

He had taken the mirror and found a note attached to it saying to look within..

Eolas, being awfully cautious, was afraid it might have been a trap.. but Lucy, who was just exiting the guild hall, laid his fears to rest, telling her that it was something that Mikoto always kept on the top dresser in the house.. and had kept on the top dresser of her old dorm in Tokwadai... supposedly Mikoto had always kept it for good luck, without ever remembering how she got it.

Eolas found himself extremely curious at this point. Back in the world he had come from, the Mikoto he knew never had any sort of hand mirror good luck charm.. and so he had gone to a secluded alleyway.. and looked straight into the mirror.. and saw the mysterious vision of the young Mikoto and Amor Caritas...

"What the bloody hell was that all about?" Eolas muttered, eying the mirror apprehensively.

"That.. was the first encounter Mikoto ever had with magic.." said a voice..
