Remi-
Just like Nayeli, to play the poor pitiful little girl. Finishing my breakfast, I look over at dad and he's already finished his plate. He don't let the mediocre family drama get to him. He knows that Nay understands exactly how he feels about the whole mate situation. She can enjoy the fun while it lasts but it will come to an end. Dad will never give her away to a wolf that was not mated to her by the original wolf ancestors. I will not either. I don't get this game she's playing. But let it be known, she's playing with fire.
"Dad, you ready to head to the meeting?"
"Yes Remi, let's head out."

Nayeli-
Suffocating my screams into the pillow mountain on my bed, I'm interrupted by the ringing of my phone. Looking at the screen and seeing his name come across made everything a little less hectic. Lakken, he has perfect timing. It's like he knew I needed him. Proof that we don't need the mate bond to be soul mates. Sliding the phone icon across this screen, I place the speaker to my ear and hear his soft masculine voice.
"Nay?"
"Nayeli?"
"Babe, are you there?"
Hearing his voice melts my heart.
"Yes babe, I'm here."
"Are we still okay to have our picnic today?"
Waiting for his response, I crossed my fingers hoping for it not to be canceled. I needed this date today.
"Yes Nay, but tell me why you are crying."
"And don't tell me nothing, I can hear it in your voice."
He knows me so well. I tried to hold my breath as I was talking, thinking it would help mask the croaky sound in my voice.
"Can we talk about it over lunch?"
Not ready to discuss how big of an asshole Remi is, I hoped he accepted.
"Of course babe."
"See you soon."
Remi-
Riding in this old clunker while dad drives, gives me more time then I need to be thinking about the shame Nay is bringing to our family. Unwilling, inhaling dad's second hand smoke, I try to think of the simplest way to solve the problem. But that's the problem, I can't think of a solution. I run through all scenarios, it all leads to one. One that I know dad would not approve, one that would make be lose the trust of my sister for life. Then I think, would it be worth it? Suddenly, I snapped out of my own thoughts by dad's raspy voice.
"You lost in thought over there?"
"No, not really. Just think about the fight I had with Nay this morning."
"You mean the one that needs to smack her right back down to reality?"
Sighing, cause I know he completely understands my view of this. I mean he should, he raised me to be this way.
"I guess. It's just never ending. I thought it would have clicked for her by now."
Shaking his head in disbelief and disappointment at the same time, he looked over at me with a saddened face.
"Son, you don't realize how much I agree with you. I thought for sure once the honey moon stage was over, she would snap out of it."
Looking back at him, this time in full on concern in my voice.
