Remi-

After entering Lamont's office, he ushered us to the two chairs sitting in front of his desk. There is something off about this guy, but I can't quite put my finger on it. I don't see what's so great about this guy. Why does everyone fear him? To me, he looks like your average Alpha.

"Remi." Dad whispers as he drives his elbow into my side.

"Pay attention, he's not someone to piss off remember?"

Only replying with a nod, I took my seat. I'm only here to observe, so thankfully, I don't have to engage much into this conversation. Just listening to my dad kiss this man's ass is full on sickening. The man raised me to never cower to anyone, especially another alpha cause it's shows weakness and here he is being the biggest puss of them all. Then the room suddenly went silent for a very long awkward minute, followed by Lamont rising from his chair. With one swift movement he slid his chair backwards towards the wall. Slowly walking around his desk showing dominance, he reaches out to shake dad's hand, then mine.

"It was a pleasure to meet you both. I look forward to working with your family."

Lamont exited the room first, then we followed. Making our way to the lobby door, I still can't help but to be in "awe" at the magnificent place. If I wasn't about to be Alpha, I might actually consider moving to the city. On second thought, my heart is still in the country. Plus, I'm not sure I could coexist in the same city as "Lamont", mister hot shot lawyer. Now, just standing here letting the highlights of the meeting sink in as dad informs the valet to retrieve our car. I really can't believe after all that hardcore ass kissing, in the end it was only for hiring him as the family lawyer. Although, our last one did kick the bucket not to long ago. After a few more minutes the valet pulls up with our car and hands dad the keys. Hopping in the passenger seat, I quickly snap in my seat belt so we can get back on the road.

"All that back and forth in there and it was only to hire him, dad? Really? It seemed a bit excessive."

"Keep in mind son, he's more than just a lawyer. He and his team are the best trackers in history. If you ever need someone or something found he's the man for the job. He's never come across a case he couldn't solve."

"I'm sorry, I just found him to be a bit arrogant."

"Remi, when you're a man of his stature, you have earned every right to be arrogant. I never said we were trying to make him a family friend. We just need him on our side if anything was to ever go wrong."

Nayeli-

After helping Lakken clean up the empty containers and folding up the blanket we were sitting on, I just stood there. Looking over the blue glistened lake, trying to use nature as a way of seeing the good in this world. It's hard, it's hard seeing good in people when I can't trust or confide in the ones I'm supposed to be closest too. I, slowly, let off suppressing Onida to try to complete the mind-link connection with her.

Onida, will it ever get any better? Will anyone ever accept my decision to follow my heart and not what the wolf ancestors have chosen as my path?

I'm sorry dear. If this is the path you choose, I will always be here with you. I may not like this path in life but it is my duty to always protect you. As for others, I can't say they'll do the same. Almost all of the wolf population, worships the paths that the ancestors have laid out for us. It's like their version of the circle of life and how it's suppose to play out. Most others will eventually shun you.

Do you think my family will ever shun me or will it be a long life of snide comments and cold shoulders?

Honestly Nayeli, I don't know.
