dressed in blue, we met the first time.
i couldn't see it then, the reflection of myself in your lonely eyesand suddenly, we were more than strangers
we were two peas in a pod, partners in crime, the best of friends, two halves that made a whole.
to be frank, you were everything to me in that time
the road became bumpy when it dawned on me that while you were my everything, i wasn't yours
it was painful, and to be candid, i hated you for it.
hated you for not giving me 100%, hated you for finding new things, new people, new experiences that i could never give you
and then, just a little bit, i grew up.
realized we don't have to be each other's everything to be important to one another.
sure, we're not the one am texts, stargazing, joke sharing, tear jerking fever dream we used to be.
and that's okay, because we're different now. (growing now)
i look at you and think
perhaps we were never strangers
...
