Derek Paine
"How's it going with you and that tight little blond?" Jason asks and I grab another shot. I can't listen to his annoying ass voice sober. I down the shot and look at him, hiding my clenched fists. Say what you were told to say and don't hit him Paine. I take a deep breath and give him a fake laugh.
"She's a little baddie for sure bro. She definitely knows what to do with her mouth is all I'm saying." I force the words out of my mouth and conceal my disgust.
"Damn. Is it serious?" He presses and I inwardly roll my eyes. He's so fucking predictable.
"I mean I took her on a date but nah." I take another shot.
"So.. you wouldn't mind if I asked her out?" Fuckkkkkk douche lord moves fast.
"Go ahead. She's good in the sack." My irritation shows in my tone as I make myself say the words that I rehearsed earlier this week. Like I said. Pre-fucking-dictable.
"You're a bro man." He says with his fist out to me. I bump it a little harder than I meant to and he shakes his hand out.
"And don't forget it." I say before pushing myself up to my feet. "Gotta go."
"Awh you just got here." One of the guys complains.
"Got places to be." I say and reluctantly clap him on the back like I'm actually friends with him. How much longer am I gonna have to deal with these assholes?! If I say I got to go, I got to go.
Before I leave, I look back at Jason. I can't believe Issa is supposed to give herself to this dickbag. If only I had made my move before this whole thing started. They wouldn't assign her to a mission like this if she had an official partner. The academy isn't that corrupt.
I make it out of the abandoned building and hop into my new car. I scan the lot to make sure all the cars are still here and empty before reversing out of this shit hole. I start to drive toward the safe house but somehow end up outside of a bar. Probably not a good idea considering my past substance abuse but I think this situation gives me a free pass not counting the shit I'm doing with Jason and his group of idiot friends. When I get back to the academy I'm gonna have to start detoxing myself so this doesn't get worse.
I sit at the end of the bar and wait for the bartender to turn her attention to me. I look down at my hands and try not to think about Jason's hands on Issa. My for now friend. I don't even want to picture it but my mind is going through all the possibilities and images are flashing across my mind every time I blink. I pinch the bridge of my nose and sigh painfully.
"You look like you need this." I look up and see the pink haired bartender sliding a glass of whiskey toward me. "On the house."
"Thanks." I raise the glass to her and take a sip.
