Cameron's POV

I came back In the room to see Madison putting on her shoes and grabbing her purse.
"Where you going?" I asked
"To work... I work at the vintage bookstore on Maple Street ." she said
"Oh." I retorted
" I might be late you don't need to wait up." she continued
"Ok." I said trying not to sound defeated
It was 10:30 pm and Madisom still wasn't home I know she said she was going to be late but I'm getting worried about her.
I grabbed my keys and headed toward the bookshop on Maple Street. I been their a couple of times, it's pretty nice.
Ding ding.
The bells rang against the opening door, "Madison are you here." I called as I walked in
Bookshelves lined the walls, the smell of old books filled the room. Madison was sitting on the couch in front of the fireplace reading. The light flickered off of her face, giving her and illuminating glow.
"Hey Maddie." I said as I walked up behind her.
"Hey Cameron, what are you doing here." she asked.
"Well I got worried when you didn't come home I know you said you were going to be late but I was afraid something happened?" I said sounding more concerned than I ever had in my entire life.
"I'm sorry cam I hope your not mad at me, I was on my way back but then I got distracted this is a really good book."she said
"I could never be mad at you." I replied as I sat next to her on the couch.
"I'm actually glad your here, it got pretty lonely." she started
"My family owns this bookstore it used to belong to my grandpa, he used to work here, he died when I was 15; I missed him so much and I felt that working here was the best way to still have him with me." she explained
"I always liked this bookshop it's pretty cozy." I said as I wrapped my arm around her waist pulling her closer to me.
Maddie's cheeks began to turn red as I held her in my arms.
She pulled the blanket up from her feet to cover us, holding her in my arms just feels right like there's nothing that could tear us apart.
-Madison's POV-
That instant I felt loved. I never felt like somebody cared for me in my entire life. Cameron held me like I was his life jacket keeping him from drowning. For the first time in forever I felt safe.
His hot breath spread across my neck giving me goosebumps. But not the ewww get away from me goosebumps, no these were the goosebumps you get when your crush touches your hand or when you hear your favorite singer on stage.
"Oh I forgot to tell you..." I whispered
"I loved the movie today." I said
"The Great Gatsby is one of my favorite movies, I'm glad you liked it." Cameron chimed softly.
We stared at the fire in the fireplace in silence for a while, then Cameron broke the silence.
"Why did you do it?" he said as he stared directly into my eyes as if he was searching my heart for answers.
"It doesn't matter.... I'm here now." I said softly
"IT DOES MATTER! YOU MATTER!" Cameron said so loudly it would have been violent but his eyes were soft.
"Because... my existence has no purpose everyone would be happier if I was gone and honestly I probably would be too." I replied trying to refrain from tears
"I can't remember the last time I felt important or cared for , everybody looks at me as an inconvenience, I mean if no one cares about me do I even exist at all." I continued as a tear rolled down my cheek.
"Madison." cam said wiping the tear
" I would do anything for you, if anybody ever hurts you I'll be there for you just promise you won't ever do that again.... I .... Need you" he said embracing me in a tight hug not letting me go
Pulling me away from him he placed his forehead against mine and whispered "I Need You" another tear rolled down my cheek and he placed his lips against mine. I didn't think this was possible but he literally kissed away my worries, I felt safe. I leaned into the kiss my hands in his hair. "Thank You" I whispered. Besides what else can you say to the boy who saved your life.
