You quickly finish pouring popcorn into a bowl and hurry to meet Jinyoung in the living room. He is sprawled out next to the table, mind concentrating on the task in front of him. "You bought one of those extra challenging puzzles, huh?" You snicker and poke his cheek playfully. "Well we can't do a 200 piece puzzle and be done in two hours." Jinyoung grins back at you. "Yes, Y/N. We have to stay up until 1am and finish all of this." You groan in feigned despair. It was Jinyoung's idea to have a puzzle night. You were pleasantly surprised he offered. You thought that you'd be the only one making an effort with this "non sexual intimacy" thing. Turns out, Jinyoung must've needed the break too.
You turn to look over Jinyoung's progress so far. He had all the edges perfectly lined and figured out. You didn't expect anything else. He always had to do puzzles in a methodical and organized way. You begin helping him, slowly filling in the interior of the puzzle.
The time seems to fly by. The next time you glance at the clock it is fifteen minutes after midnight. You whine and pull on Jinyoung's sleeve. "Babe, your parents come tomorrow. We should get some rest." Jinyoung sighs, enveloping you in a playful hug. "I guess we should. You know I hate quitting." You laugh. Of course you knew that. "The puzzle will still be there tomorrow." With that, the two of you potter off to bed, hand in hand.
Despite your tiredness, you are actually the first one up in the morning. You tidy the kitchen, make coffee, and take a look at the puzzle. With a fresh mind, you are able to fill in the pieces Jinyoung was missing. Your relationship was like that. Filling the emptiness of each other. You hear rustling behind you, and see Jinyoung stumble out of the bedroom shirtless and sleepy.
No matter how many times you saw him naked (which had been numerous) his body still took your breath away. "Morning sleepyhead." Jinyoung smirks and gives you a kiss on the forehead. "I see you finished my puzzle." You shrug. "Much easier to finish when you've had a goodnight's sleep." Jinyoung nuzzles your neck and delivers a soft kiss there. It makes your body break out into goosebumps.
"You smell good", he mumbles against your neck. Your heartbeat quickens. Was he finally trying to initiate something with you? The both of you are distracted by the phone ringing. Jinyoung tickles you before going to answer the phone. You can't help but sigh. It felt like something always came in the way lately.
Jinyoung's parents called to tell you both that they'd arrive around 6:45pm. That gave you enough time to make sure the meal you planned on making was ready. It was winter, so you thought a simple and hearty beef stew would be best. Plus, Jinyoung always craved it. Jinyoung sat in the living room, working on his laptop. "Babe, the smell of that stew is driving me crazy."
He gets up and walks into the kitchen, standing behind you. You can feel his breath against the back of your neck. "I'm glad you think it smells good." You turn back to the pot in front of you, stirring. You are surprised when you feel Jinyoung's arm envelope you from behind, pulling you against his chest. "I love you a lot, you know." Your heart melts. "Of course. I love you a lot too. So much." Jinyoung spins you around, a large smile plastered across his face.
He kisses you. Deep and passionate. Probably the most intense kiss you've had in a while. You are left breathless before he pulls away. You can see a tint of red in his cheeks. Obviously embarrassed by his sudden show of affection. You thought it was cute. Jinyoung didn't say "I love you" very frequently. Maybe a few monumental times in your relationship. He preferred showing his love through actions.
You weren't someone who constantly needed to be told those magical three words. However, hearing them from Jinyoung never failed to give you butterflies. You felt yourself flushing like a schoolgirl when he walked away.
Maybe...Just maybe you guys were getting somewhere. You couldn't concentrate too much on that right now. You had far more pressing matters to worry about. Meaning: his parents coming. You knew you had to brace yourself for all of the unwanted questions. Jinyoung tried his best to stop his parents from asking, but they were far too curious.
You knew the Parks meant well. They were never mean. They just wanted a grandchild so badly. You understood, because you were also desperate for that same baby.
