The Dream

I fold up the letter. I pull out a drawer and find an envelope. The letter goes inside and the envelope goes in the drawer. I lay down on my bed as I was before and look up.

The ceiling has completely changed! It's the same as it was in my day dream. It looks so real but I won't bother to tell anyone...except maybe Daemon. I'll tell him when he gets back.

I start to drift off. Before I do I see Daemon's smiling face and I smile too.

It's just me and Daemon. We're in a forest, in the dark of night. I'm in a light blue strapless gown with diamonds across my chest. I'm wearing heels that match the color of the dress. They have diamonds on the heel and toe. Miraculously, they did not sink into the damp earth. Daemon's light blue eyes match my dress. His black, soft hair was stylishly messed up. He is dressed in an all black tux.

We're standing at the edge of the clearing. The moon is directly overhead, as if lighting the clearing just for us.

Daemon smiles at me. He takes my hand and guides me into the clearing. Out of nowhere music starts to play, and its slow. He lifts the hand that holds mine and wraps his other around my waist.

He leads me in a dance that twirls us in a circle. We aren't moving fast but it seems like it and I wonder how he isn't dizzy. We must dance like this for hours on end, just enjoying our time together, and I get caught up in his eyes. I see why he doesn't get dizzy. He's staring at me. His smile is so wide and I don't understand why, I'm not much to look at.

I finally understand when he stops, suddenly, and hugs me. “I missed you,” he whispers in my ear. A shiver runs down my spine and I hug him back.

We stands like that for a while until he whispers to me, “It's getting late. I should return you.”

“I didn't know you stole me.”

“You could say that,” and he gives me a dazzling smile. “It's late and your mother will worry. Don't be sad, though. When you wake up I'll be home and I'll come get you.”

Then he starts to fade away, but before he does, he kisses me and then he's completely gone. I touch my lips. I never thought such a beautiful, happy, sweet, smiling boy would taste so much like darkness.

It tastes like butterflies flying in a pitch black, enclosed room. It tastes like wandering the forest while you're blind. It tastes like evil and pain sprinkled with touches of good and happiness and…love.
