A/N - I normally don't write first POV's. It feels strange and unfamiliar. I think it turned out decent.
BUT...Sorry to keep you waiting! This chapter was short, but I hoped you liked it! Many chapters that will be good quality (hopefully) ahead!
Kang Jia's POV
Class.
I was finally standing at the large doors in front of me that lead to the auditorium.
New college. Hopefully a fresh start.
Will today's first class go well today?
Pushing the grand doors, I stepped into the vast room, majority of the seats were already filled.
'SOCIO 250 - SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH'
That's what was written on the powerpoint slide.
"I've lost motivation just by looking at that slide." I sighed, a huge frown clearly displayed to the world. Holding onto the backstraps tightly, I could feel my nails digging into my skin, slowly my hand losing circulation. My thoughts were becoming distant until a voice murmured close to my ear, making me flinch.
"I won't make you bored, trust me." Turning my head abruptly to the right, I turned to see the person who nearly made me go blind....by his entire presence.
My mouth was agape, not knowing what to say.
Was he hitting on me?
I was just trying to go to my seat, mind you not we were still near the front of the auditorium.
The leather jacket matched with this man's plain t-shirt gave a slightly intimidating vibe. Along with his piercings and one ring on his finger (Yes, I took note of everything very fast), the man standing before me broke into a smile.
"I'm so sorry, that came off really strange and perverted. Anyway, I haven't seen you around. Are you new?" I took note of his face that turned into a light dust of pink. He let out a shy smile baffling me even more.
"Yeah....I'm a transfer student."
"Nice! So you're second year?" The sound of his voice always made me take a few extra seconds to process his words. His voice was just so....
"Technically no. 3rd year. How about you?"
"It's my last year of college. I'm Jung Hoseok, and you are?" Hoseok reached out his hand towards me, as if he was expecting a handshake.
Did people shake hands nowadays? I was just so used to DM introductions, it almost felt strange to physically introduce each other."Jia. Kang Jia." Smiling, I decided to shake my hand in return. The handshake was a brief touch and before I knew it, the handshake was over.
I couldn't help but quickly scan the guy up and down.
Is it weird to say that his body proportions were...hot??
What am I thinking!?
"Anyway, wanna go to the middle section? This is kind of a fucked up auditorium. The closer you are, it's a pain in the ass to stare up at the powerpoint. If you're too far back, the words are difficult to read even though it is projected on a large screen. Basically the middle of the auditorium are your lucky seats. As you can tell, it's getting filled up really fast." I turned towards Hoseok, who was very right. The college I went to, most students either sat up close or way at the back. The middle seat was in fact, very empty.
"Ah, we better sit in the middle section then.""Yes!" Hoseok turned away, leading the way. I followed behind him, a smile itching to be revealed. I'll admit, I was quite happy that someone took the initiative to approach me.
Being a new girl wasn't easy, but I was used to it anyway. I've moved around way too many times.---
We climbed up a few steps, stepping over a few students feet, only to find two empty seats smack in the middle of the auditorium.
Falling into the chair with a huff, hoseok bent the sitting portion of the chair for me to sit beside him. The chairs were like those in the movie theatre. The seat was folded upward on default.
"Thanks." I placed my backpack on the ground, taking the seat beside him.
Leaning forward to get my laptop, I turned the table attached to my chair down, so I was able to place my laptop on the small extension.
I logged onto the student portal, downloading the first lecture uploaded by Mr. Kim.
Hoseok reached for his iced coffee drink, taking a notebook and pen in the process.
"You're a bit old school aren't ya?" I joked, wanting to get Hoseok's attention.
He reciprocated the smile, nodding his head, "Shit actually gets into my head when I write versus type."
"Mhmmm." Turning my head towards the screen, I noticed a young man walking down to the front of the auditorium, where a small table and podium was located on the far right.
Immediately, I heard a slight choking, and turned towards the sound. Hoseok was slightly choking on his drink, and started to cough.
"Are you okay??" My eyes widened, not sure if I should do. Should I pat his back? Wouldn't it be weird since we just met? But no matter what, shouldn't safety matter----
"Fuck. I can't believe he's teaching." Hoseok's face was almost red as a tomato as he tried to calm himself from the coughing.
I turned back to the front, to take note of the man take a few of his supplies out on the table, placing his leather brief case.
He looked so calm, sophisticated and...
"Is he our professor? He looks like he's really young."
"That's because he is. He's a year younger than me. That bastard..." Hoseok smirked, shaking his head, and getting his notebook ready.
Did he know him??
I can't ask.
"Hoseok-ah! I can't wait to be in your class this afternoon!" A girl squealed, nearby, catching Hoseok's attention. Rather, looking at the girl, he took a pair of his headphones, blasting music, closing his eyes for a bit. He sighed out, in what seemed to be in annoyance. It was clearly obvious that he was pretending he didn't hear the obnoxiously loud girl.
I couldn't help but be curious, so I tapped his shoulder after the girl looked away with disappointment. Opening his eyes right away, he turned towards me, removing his headphones, "yes?"
"What...did that girl mean---"
"Ah." He chuckled, "I'm a dance instructor here."
WHAT????
"For...how long may I ask?"
"4 years."
"How...old are you?" Now the curiosity was really getting to me. He's a student...and teacher?
He's got to be some 30 year old...somehow...
"23."
WHAT IS UP WITH ALL THESE YOUNG TEACHERS?!
