Third Person POV
"Papa! Put me down!" Jordan squeals out between giggles.
Brendon was chasing him, catching him, and throwing him over his shoulder just like he did with Ryan years go.
Brendon's half-sister (she reached out to Boyd two years after the move, turns out she was his from a previous relationship) had Jordan but she didn't want the responsibility of being a full time mom so Brendon and Ryan happily adopted him. That was a little over four years ago. Neither of the boys regret their decision and Jordan's mother is still in his life, just as an aunt instead of a mom. They're happy.
Ryan watches the two fondly as he recalls when Brendon did the same thing to him. It's hard for him to believe that was six years ago. Six years of loving Brendon. They've definitely had their not so loving moments but they got through it.
They got married shortly after Kara confessed she wasn't ready to be a mother. It wasn't that they felt they had to be married to have a kid, Ryan just thought it was a good time to finally propose to Brendon, since their life seemed to be heading in all the right directions.
"What if I don't wanna put you down, bub? Then what?" Brendon lets out a goofy, evil laugh and starts running faster with Jordan still thrown over his shoulder.
"You don't let me down then I tell daddy. Daddy will beat you up and avenge me." Jordan's head swivels around, searching for his daddy, as he laughs and weakly bangs his tiny fists against his papa's back.
"Well looks like daddy's gonna have to beat me up then." Brendon had been heading toward Ryan, speaking when Ryan got within ear shot.
Ryan chuckles, a smile gracing his face. He stands and peeks around to look at their son.
Jordan's face immediately lights up. "Hi, daddy. You upside down." He giggles and reaches to touch his daddy's face. Ryan leans into his hands, only to place a tiny kiss to his baby's lips.
"Hi, baby. You're upside down too." Ryan pauses as he giggles at the goofy little boy hanging from his husbands's shoulder. "So I'm supposed to be beating Papa up, am I?"
Jordan puts on his fake angry pout, "Yes you is. Papa's being a meanie head and not letting me off him. So you's has to beat him up and avenge me."
Ryan stares at his son with pure adoration. "Alright, kiddo. Let's get daddy then."
Ryan then wraps his arms around Brendon, holding tight so he can't run away.
"So, babe, are you gonna let my boy down so I can beat you up?" Ryan's smirking as Brendon stares at him with wide eyes.
Suddenly, Brendon smirks too. "I will let him go on one condition: you have to kiss me."
"Oh that's easy." Ryan leans in and gives Brendon a tiny kiss on his lips, much like the one he gave his son.
"Ewwwww! No kissies around me!" The couple can't help but chuckle at their son's comment.
Brendon lets Jordan off of his shoulder and tells him to go play. Ryan, on the other hand, discretely tells Jordan to stay close. Right as Brendon is about to tell Jordan to go play again, Ryan tackles him to the ground.
Brendon lets out a "hmph" as the air is knocked out of him but can't help the smile on his face as he hears the hysterical laughter from his son and the slight giggles that emerge from his husband, who's sitting on top of him.
Ryan bends down for another kiss, a real kiss. Jordan doesn't say anything this time, he knows his parents are just loving each other just as they love him.
It's in this moment, their life feels perfect. All three are happy exactly where they are. They know everything from here on out is going to be wonderful, because the have the love and support of each other.
