A.N.: I'm sorry I haven't updated in forever, life's been hectic. I'm going to try to update more frequently.
Please stay safe during these insane coronavirus times!
There's two characters borrowed from my story The Kippens, but they're slightly different here. Same casting though.
It's the day before New Years, and The Spoon is packed. Kira, Amber, and I are getting breakfast. We're enjoying a meal of pancakes when I see TJ walk in with a guy and a girl I've never seen before.
Kira sees me tense, "What's got you all worked up?"
"TJ's about to come inside with two people I've never seen before."
"What's the issue? You've never panicked like this, and you literally helped him when he had to come out."
"Do you not remember that entire thing about him being in love with me thing?" I ask, mildly flustered.
"Dude, chill. You getting all flustered is not going to help your 'hi, I'm straight' case," Amber whispers and I nod.
TJ sees us and walks over, "Yo, Underdog!"
"Sup, Not-So-Scary-Basketball-Guy," I say, doing our handshake.
"Just showing my cousins around town. These are my twin cousins DJ and AJ Kipnis. We're actually all born on the same day."
"Damn, that's crazy. I'm Amber Goodman, Cyrus' older sister," Amber says, shaking their hands.
"I'm Kira, their younger sister," Kira says, also shaking their hands, "Are you two as elusive with your names as TJ is?"
They laugh and AJ speaks up, "Nah. We all got the initials thing, but TJ's the one with the weird name. I'm Andrew James."
"And I'm Danielle Jane. T's just got a wacky name."
"You three kinda look alike. Like enough to pass off as triplets," I comment.
"We used to go to the same school until I moved here and AJ and I used to look so similar it really tripped people up," TJ comments with a laugh.
"Want to join our table?" Amber asks.
"Sure."
It's a good time. We learn that DJ's the dance team captain at her high school and AJ and TJ also danced with her (and are actually kinda good, they showed us videos). We offer to join them on the tour (since we've lived here longer) but they politely decline, saying that there's something really funny about TJ tours that only the three of them really get. Which I understand as them probably wanting to talk to TJ about something privately, which is also understandable.
Before they go, we exchange numbers and I invite them to our New Year's thing. Which is probably not the best idea because I love Andi, but we haven't really spoken much since the whole TJ is Jet thing, and it may be better to keep it silent.
The three look at each other, "So sorry, but since it's the first time we're all in town since TJ moved to Shadyside, the family's doing a whole thing."
"That's alright," I shrug, relieved on the inside.
New Year's Eve
"Cyrus, the basement fridge."
"Why do we even have an extra fridge? And why do I always have to clean it out?" I complain.
"Because you use the basement the most, Cy-Fi," Amber reminds. She's the only one doing the Goodman family tradition with the family this year. We tend to rotate who does it since KiKi started middle school, with two of us chilling with our friends and the third with mom and dad. It was KiKi's turn last year, Bambi's this year, and mine next year.
