TOUGH LOVE

THE BUS

It's been about one month since homecoming and all that drama. James avoids me at all cost, which isn't a bad thing but I guess he just doesn't want to deal with me. I'm still a bit confused as to what happened that night but I don't want to make it seem like I care.

I'm still not talking to Jeff but he messages me almost daily to apologize. I don't respond because he obviously doesn't know what giving people space means.

But aside from that it's been a great month I started reading again more. I'd rather read drama than live through it.

*LUNCH*

We were all sitting in our usual table.

"Ugh, I can't wait! It's finally Tomorrow!" squeals Kathy.

"What is?" asks Daniel sarcastically. We all knew what Kathy was talking about because she's been talking about for the past month.

"HaHa" she says with a fake laugh.

"They announce our partners on today, right?" I asked.

"Yes!The principal should go up on the stage any second now. I bet they're going to go alphabetical order so I'll probably get Jennifer Henderson or Luna Hoffman. It's fine, though they're are both so sweet." Kathy was sure of this because her last name was Hernandez.

I immediately ask worried. "It's guys with guys and girls with girls, right?"

"Obviously; Ever since that pregnancy incident a couple years back, that's been the rule." Tre answers.

"Oh good." I respond. Why did my last name have to Dean? I was only worried because I didn't want my roommate/partner to be Sir. James Dowl.

"UPPERCLASSMEN OF MCKINLEY!" shouted our principal from the stage in front of the entire cafeteria.

"PLEASE, MAKE SURE YOU LISTEN FOR YOUR NAME AND YOUR PARTNERS FOR THE TRIP. I WILL NOT, AND I REPEAT, WILL NOT REPEAT ANY NAMES! SO LISTEN CAREFULLY"

"Why don't they just give the poor guy a microphone? He's going to lose his voice calling out all those names." Said Daniel with a chuckle.

We all laughed.

"Actually only around 80 people are actually going, 40 girls and 40 boys. Now shush, I want to hear who my partner is!" Said Kathy making her way closer to the stage.

We all followed. We were standing in front of the stage with the rest of the people going on the trip.

"OK. LADIES FIRST!" 

He started off with the A's but I wasn't really paying attention until he started with the D's.

"SAMANTHA DANIELS AND RIDER DEAN"  'Nice' I though to myself, Samantha was in some of my classes and she was a very cool girl. I'd rather be with her than with James.

I tried searching the crowd to see if I could spot Samantha but she wasn't around. Principal Samuel's continued his yelling and then came the H's.

"JENNIFER HENDERSON AND KATHERINE HERNANDEZ!"

Kathy and Jennifer were both cheerleaders so they screamed and hugged each other.

Principal Samuel's finished the girls off and then continued with the boys names. I was surprised his voice was still going strong.

Tre got one of his football friends.

"LENARDO MONROE AND DANIEL MOORE"

I looked at Daniel and Lenny and they were both smiling at each other. They were very cute together but no one could actually tell that they were dating.
