Carlisle looked to Penny a bit surprised that it was her who addressed him "I'm sorry but have we met?" Aro then stood "Carlisle allow me to introduce you to our mate Penelope. I believe she's the reason you are all here." Penny smirked seeing the shocked looks on the Cullens faces, they had hoped to catch the Volturi by surprise. Carlisle smiled but even she could see it wasn't sincere "congratulations on finding your mate. I suppose this means you will be changing her soon, you know she can't stay human." At this Penny stood and slowly walked down the steps to the main floor. Before she spoke Penny turned back toward her mates her eyes quickly flash purple before looking back to face the Cullens. The kings were now smirking, their queen was in complete control of the situation and whatever she had planned was sure to be entertaining! "I will not need to be changed. Not only will I not be changed I can't be changed. I'm already-" Before she could finish Bella Cullen interrupted "You don't have a choice, it be changed or be killed!" At this all three kings and her two brothers growled at the brunette. Penny raised a hand to silence them and they did. Slowly she approached Bella she could she Edward tense at realizing he couldn't tell what she had planned. "You're a shield aren't you?" Bella nodded "Yes so whatever they try it won't work on me or my family!" Penny grinned "Is that so?" Just then Bella flew back into the solid wood doors that lead to the throne room, successfully splitting one in half! The Cullens all stood frozen in shock. "It would seem that your shield isn't all that it's cracked up to be!" The kings were all smiling now seeing how strong their mate truly was, Penny then looked back to Carlisle "But then again Vampiric gifts never work on my kind unless we allow them to."The entire coven snapped back to normal at her saying this and Edward Cullen went to help his mate up. Once again Carlisle spoke "What do you mean by your kind? What are you exactly?" At this Penny's eyes began glowing purple and all the Cullens took a step back in shock "I'm a descendant of the ones who created your kind." Everyone in the room now looked confused except for Penelope, Aro and Caius. "Well it's obvious you do not know how your kind came to be. I'll tell you then." Penny walked back up the steps and sat in Aro's lap who immediately wrapped his arm around her waist and stuck his nose into her hair. It wasn't the time to do such things but Penny allowed it as it seemed to help him relax. "My kind are known as the first immortals. We go by many terms but the simplest would be Grand witch, not to be confused with a regular witch or a high priestess. Grand witches have been around since the dawn of man. We are not good nor evil but we make sure the balance of the universe is maintained. It was said that Lucifer granted Eve powers and immortality after she ate that apple. I'm not sure if that is true or not but I do know that about 4,000 years ago my kind created the first vampire." Everyone in the room was hanging onto Penny's every word, Esme spoke up to ask "Created how, I only know one way to create a vampire?" Penny smiled at Esme as she made her think of her own mother, who she hadn't spoken to in months. "A few grand witches like myself took a few humans who they deemed worthy of immortality and performed a ritual, even I don't know all the details but perhaps if they are willing Aro and Caius could tell us their experiences with the ritual." There were many gasps and every eye now seemed to be on the two kings. Aro spoke up pulling away from Penny's hair. "I don't remember much other than A woman promising me power and her forcing me to drink something that I now know was blood and I was knocked unconscious and woke up a vampire. A few decades later I found Marcus and bit him and together we eventually met Caius." Caius sighed "My story is not much different from Aro's."
With that everyone looked back to Penny " I do know that only four original vampires remain however I was told the other two went mad with power and something made them go into hiding." At this Caius chuckled and muttered "Something indeed." Penny playfully slapped Caius' shoulder as she stood up and walked up to Carlisle. "You see my point is that you're kind was originally created by mine, magically we are a great deal stronger. Every Grand witch has been trained to combat different creatures both magically and physically. Like the volturi my kind are responsible for upholding certain laws of the supernatural world." Penny looked over to Bella and Edward "I apologize for earlier, however I believe now you understand that just because you have a shield does not make you invincible. Bella you are still young you have a lot to learn about this life. That includes observing an individual before you speak, however had I not shielded my mind your mate probably could have prevented that." Bella only gave a nod in response. "the gifts that a few vampires possess all came from the original five witches who created them. Most of the gifts you have today I as well possess." It was Jasper who spoke up this time "You mean you have all of our gifts?" Penny chuckled "You give me too much credit Jasper. While I do possess empathy like you and premonition like your mate, I have yet to unlock telepathy like Edward or Aro, along with a few others. My specialty however is telekinesis as you witnessed a few moments ago with Bella. Which reminds me..." with the wave of a hand everyone watched as Penelope repaired the door that Bella had split. Edward spoke up "But how do we know you aren't a danger to our kind?" Five low growls sounded through out the room but Penny smiled "That's just it Edward, you don't. My kind created you and my kind could wipe you out. That being said vampires were created to help witches. Your advanced senses and strength were once used to help witches uphold supernatural law. You've spent your entire existence thinking that you were on top of the food chain, and in some ways you are, but not all." Penelope paused and looked at her mates remembering something her mother said. "Well actually I suppose any reassurance you would get would come from the fact that I'm mated. Mates serve as much more than companions and lovers for witches, they also serve as anchors. Our mates keep us sane in a way so that our magic doesn't take over and get out of hand." Penny shot a tender smile at Caius and ran one hand through Aro's hair while using the other to take Marcus' hand. The kings were thrilled that they were already useful to their mate, knowing that they served her just as much as she served them. After watching the interaction for a few moments Alice spoke. "Penelope I owe you an apology, I thought the Volturi considered themselves above the law after how they treated Edward and Bella. I can see now I was mistaken, you're right We've got a lot to learn. I'm sorry." Penny gave a smile and a nod at Alice before directing her attention back to Carlisle. "You have let things get a bit out of hand over the past couple years Carlisle. You are meant to lead this coven and yet you seem to be struggling to hold the reigns. Please do see that you fix that issue soon, I'll be watching." The Cullens all looked ashamed what the queen had said was true and they all knew it. Carlisle faced Penelope "You have my word that something like this will not happen again. I believe we have spent up enough of your time-" "What about my daughter?!" Penny's hand stilled in Aro's hair as she turned to Bella who had once again interrupted someone "what about her? I believe my mates gave their ruling on the child." Bella struggled to get out a sentence and Penny knew then she had something to hide. "Aro darling?" The vampire in question was now purring from the attention he had been receiving. "Yes cara?" Blue eyes met red and Penny's smile was now gone. "See what she's hiding." With those words chaos erupted!
