Iruka's POV
After we finished grading papers she stretched and smiled at me, placing the last paper in the finished pile.
"Why don't you stay for dinner?" I asked her.
"Oh, you can cook?" She asked and I blushed as I nodded.
"Not great but I had to take care of myself too for a while so I taught myself how too." I said and she smiled.
"Yes, I remember. I think that was one of the reasons I wanted to be your friend so bad, I thought perhaps we could understand each other." She said.
"I'm sorry I pushed you away like I did when we were younger, maybe we can try again and be friends now?" I asked as I walked to the kitchen, her close behind.
"Sure, I'd love to be your friend." She said and I blushed. I got everything out for a simple dinner and started cooking, letting her look around my home and get familiar with the place.
'Why am I letting her though, it's not like she'll be over a lot. I don't think she'd really want to come over again after this?' I thought to myself and bushed.
"So you were talking about that mission in class today and said anyone below Jonin level couldn't know what it was." I said, starting conversation back up.
"Ah yes, well would you like to know what it was?" She asked.
"I would like too but I would also understand if you didn't want to tell me." I said and faced her after placing the food in the oven. She gave me a small smile.
"Well as you know I was training under Master Jiraiya for five years, immediately after in order to see if I had really come as far as they thought I had I was given a mission worthy of a Sannin. The mission consisted of marrying a prince from a far away place and then assassinating him or his father depending on the information gathered. What made this Sannin level was that both the father and son had strength comparable to a Sannin's. It took me almost six years to gather enough trust and information to make my move. Two years courting and marrying the Prince and then four to get trusted by his family and get information." She explained.
"So who was the one you ended up killing?" I asked.
"The Father. The King was planning to attack the Hidden Villages but his son was against it so their plan was to marry him off to someone that was foreign and send them away after a while, closer to the time they would start the attacks." She said and I nodded.
"So while you were married to the Prince of this far away place, what al did you have to do with him? I know that's a really odd question and you don't have to answer if you're uncomfortable. I've just never been on an undercover mission for so long." I asked her.
"No, that's alright. I don't mind answering. I had to do everything a normal married couple has to do. Yes that does include sex." She said, blushing and looking away at the last part. I blushed and turned around, hiding it by pretending I was checking the food.
"I know that makes me seem bad in the eyes of some people but the mission needed to be done at all costs and if that cost as my virginity then I would give it up again in order to save the Hidden Leaf." She said and I smiled.
"I'm just sorry you had to give up something that you might have found precious to you to a man you might not have loved." I said.
"Oh no, I loved him. I think I ended up falling in love with him not long after I got pretty close to the truth. But he ended up divorcing me because I can't bear children." She said, her voice getting sadder.
"You can't?" I asked, turning to face her again as she shook her head no.
"No, so that's another reason I don't see myself getting married or even wish for it. Wishing for marriage like I am would be cruel to myself." She said, wrapping her arms around herself.
"If a man can't accept you as you are and love you despite anything then he doesn't deserve you. There's nothing wrong with you simply because you can't have kids. Besides you and your husband can just adopt and you'll be able to stay a Ninja as long as you want." I said and she looked at me.
"Thank you, no one's told me there was nothing wrong with me before. Usually it's a lot of people telling me they're sorry." She said and I smiled back.
"Well they can take their apologies to someone who actually needs them. There is nothing for them to be sorry about to you unless they hurt you somehow." I said and then the timer for the food went off. I turned and got the food out and then made us some plates.
"Alright, dinner is ready." I said, placing the pates on the table and then pulling her chair out for her. I placed a plate in front of her and she smiled as I sat on the opposite end of the table. I felt my cheeks heat and I looked away and coughed a bit.
"I hope you enjoy it, I know it isn't some fancy palace meal like you used to have but hopefully you find it acceptable." I said and she giggled and took a bite. Her eyes widened and her hand flew to her face as she smiled at me.
"Iruka this tastes wonderful!" She said and I blushed again.
"You don't have to pretend to make me feel better." I said and started eating as well.
"Iruka, I would never. This really does taste great! I would never lie to you." She said and I looked up at her as she smiled back at me.
"Thanks" I said and we ate in silence until we finished.
"Alright, I suppose I should head home now Iruka, thank you for dinner." She said and bowed after washing her plate.
"I'll walk you home, I wouldn't feel right letting you walk alone this late at night." I said and she smiled.
"Thank you but I feel like you should get some sleep, you had a long day in cass today and I can tell you're tired." She said and smiled softly.
"I'll be fine Yukino, I know you're a Sannin but I still wouldn't feel right, please just let me walk you home." I said and she sighed, looking me in the eyes, her expression changing.
"Iruka, if you don't go to bed and let me take care of myself I'll force you into your bed and tie you there." She said, her expression completely serious.
"Fine, fine. I'll see you in class tomorrow." I said and her expression went soft again.
"Of course, good night Iruka." She said and walked out.
