Six months earlier....
Six months ago, Candice and her ex boyfriend JR Smith used to date. They really loved each other and had a good relationship. They dated for 2 years, until Candice witnessed his dark side. He would constantly hurt and abuse her behind closed doors. He was also controlling and would never let Candice go anywhere or speak to anyone.
Candice didn't like the way she was being treated. She had had enough of it. She pressed domestic violence charges against JR, and he was convicted and served 12 months probation. After JR got out of prison, Candice issued a restraining order.
She was soon taken in to custody for murder, and told the police that it was just a misunderstanding, but the cops had other suspicions. They told her they knew she tried resuming contact with JR after the restraining order was up. They even showed her the downloaded contents of JR's phone, and 50 pages of Facebook messages between her and JR.
The man is dead, found in your home, with your face all over his phone and your delicates found in his car. The police interrogated her.
But you don't understand, I... Candice tried explaining, but it was no use, they kept interrupting her and didn't believe a word she said.
