The sick girl sits on the cold park bench motionless with faint frozen smile on her face. She has been sitting in the cold frosty air for about an hour now, admiring the twinkling diamonds of snow as they descended from the thick clouds that blinded moon and the stars. The girl couldn’t help but to compare herself to each beautiful crystal, and how each and every one of them will someday melt away and seize to exist. At the same time she feels she has nothing else to live for. But who could blame her? Her parents died of a tragic car accident when she was only 13 and she just lost what she felt would be the love of her life, her first love. Every one she truly loved and cared about, except for her best friend Taeyeon of course who currently lives with her boyfriend in Japan because of business. A tear slowly slides down her sickly pale skin onto her tainted purple lips as she replays the moment she lost her first love over and over again in her mind.
The breakup wasn’t too tragic. Her ex-boyfriend Siwon let her down as nicely as he could, but she still couldn’t believe it. She has been dating him for 7 years and lived with him for 3 years. He claims it’s because he lost feelings for her, but she knows deep down it’s her condition that bothered him.
A young man, who looks to be about the same age as her, just happens to notice the pale girl as he walks down the park path toward his hostel. He stops and stares at her for a while out of curiosity. She notices him as well, but chooses to ignore him and continue to stare mindlessly into the distance. The boy hesitates whether to help the poor girl or not. You don’t know what you’re getting into. He thought to himself. But he knew he had to do the right thing. He takes the warm can of coffee he has been holding for warmth from his jacket pocket.
“Take it.” He insists holding it in front of her.
She weakly lifts her head up and traces her gaze from his shoes to his face. He had a very manly figure. And despite his tough appearance he had a warm smile and twinkling eyes.
“Well… Take it. You’ll feel better.”
Her faint smile grew bigger by his kindness. Her eyes moved from his face to the small can. She slowly lifts her hand grabs the can and tries to thank him but is too weak for words. He gave another assuring smile and continued down the path. As he kept walking, he can’t help but to feel like something was wrong. That he can’t just leave her there, in the cold, something bad can happen to her. And she doesn’t look like she is getting up anytime soon. He stops, turns around and walks back to where the girl was sitting. He takes the empty spot next to her on the cold park bench and stares at her until she responds. She pivots her head to his direction and looked at him puzzled. Why is he still here? She asked herself. He smiles at her then looks forward.
“You know, if you want, you can hang out at my place for a little bit. There’s a furnace so it’s nice and warm.”
He looks back at her. She continued to stare at him, motionless, speechless.
“You’re a spooky one aren’t ya?”
She chuckles and looks down shyly at the can of coffee in her hands.
“Oh, so she can laugh.” he jokes.
She looked up at him again, sharply, scrunching her nose, and then chuckled again. He thought her little action was cute and chuckled with her.
“Well, are we just going to stay here and freeze our butts off or should we go now.”
He rises from his seat and reaches his hand out to her. She nods with a smile and grabs his hand. He helps pull her onto her feet but she nearly falls over her weak legs, but just before she falls he stoops down to catch her. At this point their faces are only a few inches apart, looking straight into each other’s eyes like a scene in a movie. He smirks a slightly.
“Feels like a movie huh?”
She continues to stare into his eyes. He huffs out a short laugh.
“Do you want me to carry you?”
She shakes her head. He shrugs, lifts her back to a standing position and supports her until she regains balance. The two strangers then continue down the narrow path together.
