"Why me, Alpha? You could have had any girl and you chose me! I was going to get married to Blaise! And now here I am, forced..." I started.
"Cecily, let me explain something. Like you said, I can have any girl. But I don't just pick one because they're pretty or cute. I look for alpha-like qualities in them, and you have them all. I know you hate the idea now, but trust me, you'll be glad you're mine eventually. In a week is when you'll be marked and claimed. Now, your tour." He places his hand on my back, guiding me through the house.
Thankfully, until I am marked I don't have to share a room with him-or anyone for that matter. The house is pretty big, but I could probably find my way around it within a few days. The only thought nagging at my mind is the uncontrolled half-changes I've been experiencing. What if that happens with Kai? I shake the thought from my head as we keep going.
"I'm a bit hungry.." I say, scratching the back of my head. "Could I uh.. Get a snack or something?"
"Of course. Come," he says, grabbing my hand. I shake him off of me, but follow anyway.
I'm coming back for you Blaise, I won't let anyone change that.
*******
"Goodnight, Cecily." Kai says, walking towards his room. Before leaving however, he leaves a soft kiss on the top of my head. I blush fiercely at that, then step away from him.
With a slight growl, I back into my room, shutting the door and falling to the ground against it.
Think, Cece. Think! Somehow you have to get out of here...
As I'm crawling into bed, I hear a howl that I could recognize as well as my own. Just as I expected, I see an reddish orange wolf padding around outside my window. He looks towards me, orange eyes locking on mine.
He barks something that sounds like 'warf' and scratches at the window.
"Shh," I say, opening it and climbing outside. Immediately I wrap my arms around his neck, burying my face into the soft fur. I breathe in Blaise's cinnamon scent, then kiss behind his ear. He licks my face, earning a giggle from me. He barks, asking for me to climb on his back. I do as asked, and grab onto the scruff of his neck.
He runs, off into the forest, howling as I laugh. The feeling of the cool wind blowing in my face and hair is amazing, and when we finally get where he was taking me, I climb off. He bounds into the trees where I see a pile of clothes, and I'm guessing he's changing back.
"Cecily!" He runs out of the forest, dressed in only shorts, a few minutes later.
"Blaise!" I run towards him, and he immediately wraps his arms around my waist, lifting me and spinning me around. My arms fall limply around his shoulders and I hug him as we spin and giggle. When I open my eyes, I see his locked on me, on my lips, and a small smile forming across his. I lean down and place my forehead against his.
"You don't even know how much I've missed you, Cec." He says, kissing me. My feet make contact with the ground finally, and I would've fallen if it weren't for his arms around me.
"I love you so much, Blaise." I kissed him again.
His hands were tangled in my hair now, and I was backed against a tree. His lips were soft and warm on mine, and I had no idea how desperately I've wanted this. My foot goes out from under me, and I fall to the ground. In attempt to stop the fall, Blaise wrapped his arms around me, which only resulted in us both falling into the leaves.
"Hey look... I'm falling for you," he smirked, leaning in again.
"Oh, shut up, you dork." Within seconds we were kissing again. It was only then I realized he felt so warm because he didn't have a shirt on. I blushed again, pulling away slightly, but he grinned like a child and kissed me again.
My eyes fluttered shut as he kissed just under my ear, gently biting at the soft skin. I could feel myself half-changing, but I didn't care. Blaise as well grew furry to the touch, and when I opened my eyes he had half changed too. In seconds, my hoodie was gone, leaving me in just an undershirt.
"Blaise.. Wait..." I said, pushing him back a little. He looked at me with his head cocked slightly to the left, an eyebrow raised. "We.. We shouldn't be doing this. Isn't it wrong?"
"Cece, I love you too much to care. If this is wrong I never want to be right. I can't stand seeing you with someone else, and I'm going to make sure I don't have to." His teeth became fangs of a wolf, and soon those fangs were gently sunk into my shoulder, without pain. I realized a second too late what he was going.
I've just been marked. By Blaise.
He pulled back, his teeth changing back to normal. "Now he can't have you. Now you're mine." Blaise smiled, and I could feel the warmth radiating through my body. Being marked by someone made it so you could understand them like no one else. It forms a bond like no other. You feel their emotions and they yours. The only way to remove the effects of the bond was either one of the pair dies, or, a long journey to a mountain where-well, no one knows for sure. The last two werewolves to take the journey were from the 1800s, and their story has been changed by lies over time.
Obviously, Alpha Kai wasn't going to send his alpha female on a suicide mission, and that only meant one thing.
Blaise just got himself killed-literally.
"Blaise!" The heightening sensations of being marked were gone now, replaced by fear. "He's going to kill you!" I put my head in my hands, tears forming in my eyes.
"I-I don't know what I was thinking... It was like I was possessed or something. Not that I didn't want to mark you.. But now I've screwed up everything. There's no way he'll let me live now." He snapped out of his trance and looked at me, noticing I had begun to cry.
"Cec, no. Don't cry." He pulled my hand away, wiping the tears from my cheeks.
"But-but he's going to kill you Blaise! There's no way he'd let us go to that crazy mountain. It would be a horrible risk... There's nothing to do about it now."
He sat up, crawling up to the river and sitting Indian style. He patted his lap, and I came over to him, sitting there, while he played with my hair.
"Shh, it'll be okay. We'll figure something out. But in the meantime, you'll have to hide the mark from Kai." He stroked his fingers through my hair and my tears slowed to a stop. With my head resting against his shoulder, I felt him lift me. Through my tired daze I saw him grab my sweatshirt, and begin running back to the Alpha House.
"Goodnight, Cec." He said, kissing my forehead and climbing back out the window, "I'll see you when I can." Softly, he shut the window and I threw the hoodie back on, drifting off to sleep.
It has certainly been a long, eventful day.
