Takagi: Start Again

Part Nine:

'That same day I texted Mono. Even after so many years we had remained friends. It had been a few months since we talked, but I remember how helpful she was. She helped me get out from the dark hole I was trapped in.'

'A few minutes later I was at the coffee shop that I invited Mono to. As soon as I arrived I could see Mono sitting on one of the tables with a cofee. She was on her phone.'
'I noticed how old she looked. Even though we had only talked a few months ago I was still surprised. I had been ever since she came back to town to help me. She's so kind. Kinder than I ever was at least.' "Takagi!" 'Mono saw me and called out. I could tell she was happy to see me.' "It's good to see you Mono. So what's going on with you?" 'I was curious to see how she had been. After all, she was my friend.' "Well...I got married!" 'I wasn't that surprised. She had been talking about getting married for a while last time I saw her. "So, who is the lucky guy?" 'She looked at me surprised.' "You don't remember? Me and Nakai have been at it for years. Did you forget?" 'Damn. I did forget. I've been so focused on my own life I forgot that her and Nakai had gotten together a few years ago. Still, I was kinda jealous, after all, she was now starting her family.' "Oh well that's ok. So what did you want to talk to me about. In your text you said it was important." 'Oh that's right. I need her advice.' "Well...you see I can't explain in detail, but someone came to me today saying that they were Chi's actual mother." 'Mono looked very surprised' "Seriously! You..your not considering it are you!" 'I took a moment of thought.' "Well you see, she says that if I give her Chi she will...tell me what happened to Nishikata."
'She began freaking out! I could tell she was confused.' "Y...mean to say she knows about...him. That...can't be right, she must be lying!" "Part of me with she was Mono, but I could tell she wasn't, and...she gave me a letter, from him." "And you could tell it was him Takagi?" 'It definitely sounded and looked like he had written the note. I was certain.' "Yes. I could tell, the way it was written, the look of the note, everything told me that it was him." 'Mono calmed down, I hoped she understood.' "Well...if it's that important, maybe you should...do it." 'I was shocked. I couldn't believe she said that. Then I thought, she was right. Part of me was dying to find out. "Well, Takagi, if you can't decide, it's best if you play with her. Make her a deal and then sabotage it. It's the only way." 'She was right again. It was the perfect plan. "Your right, I will try that. Thank you Mono. I will talk to you again, when I have an update." 'I began walking away, but just before I left Mono said: "Oh and Takagi. If you do find out about Nishikata...please tell me." 'I smiled at her.' "Dont worry Mono, I will."
