Without hesitation, they jump. The only thing they had to loose was what they carried. And their life.
Hurtling through the air, stomachs clenched, hands no longer linked but scrambling to find something, anything, to grab onto. Continuing to flail, arms outstretched, dropping at speeds that they could never imagine falling at.
Tucker was furiously trying to move towards Sonja. Maybe if she landed on him when they landed she would survive... It was worth a shot. He would rather die knowing he had at least tried to save her than knowing he hadn't even bothered. Inch by inch, he grew closer and closer to her. She had hooked onto what he was trying to do. Her face, was quite obviously, scared. Petrified was probably the best word for it. They were just within arms reach of each other when they, and Tom and Jordan, were jerked up a few feet.
They hung there. A fluorescent blue glow emitting from each of them. They stayed there. None of them wanted to say anything. They were in shock. Finally, after a long period of time, Tom worked up the courage to speak.
"What the actual fuck just happened?" He looked at Jordan for he usually held an answer to Tom's queries.
"I-I dont know," he was confused, as were the rest of them. "Why are we floating here? What is this force holding us in place? And why? Where is it coming from? How long will it hold us here for?"
"It's a pretty colour."
"Seriously Sonja?" Tucker was quite obviously agitated by her statement.
"Guys, please," Jordan was trying to figure his own questions out.
"Sorry," the other three said in unison. There was a long pause, nobody knew what to say and they couldn't move due to the 'force' holding them firmly in their place.
"Jordan, what do you think-" before Tom could finish, they all began to slowly move through the darkness.
"What the-" Tucker started, seemingly baffled.
"Where are we going?" Sonja stated rather than asked. She got what she expected which was no answer.
Tucker stretched his arm out towards Sonja only to have it unwillingly snapped back to his side.
"What the-" Tucker said once again.
"You should expand on your vocabulary, Tucker."
"But Jordan your vocabulary is like you've eaten 20 dictionaries in each language," Tom was raising his voice now.
"Do you have to yell I'm right beside you."
"sshhhhhh"
"What?"
"Sshhhhh"
"Sonja? What are you doing?"
"Did you not hear that?"
"No," They say in unison.
"Listen." The group heard nothing.
"Sonja it was probably just you imagination, and besides we're still moving so if you did hear anything it is behind us now," Tom refused to believe her.
"No, shhhh, I heard it again." They listened, still nothing
"What exactly are we listing for," asked Jordan.
"A voice. A woman's voice."
"You have arrived at your destination."
Tom burst out laughing. "IS THIS A SATNAV OR SOME SHIT."
"But we're still moving," Tucker stated.
"Yes, but we've slowed down considerably," Jordan replied.
"Okay mr.sassy pants."
"I was just saying." At this point they had stopped.
"Your destination is below."
"Wha-"
The force holding them in place disappeared, leaving them to fall, again.
"You've got to be kidding meeee," was what came from Tom's mouth in an extremely high pitched scream. The others screamed a scream that came from deep within them, a genuinely terrified howl.
Once again, they were jerked up until they were level with each other. The blue glow returned.
"I'm going to be sore tomorrow," Sonja complained, wincing in pain.
"My arms," Tucker joined in on Sonja's complaints.
"Thank you for travelling with Tutum Volatus."
