Initiation Pt. 2

Torinn was expecting many things when he woke up from his slumber after the theatrics from the night before. Having aqua eyes staring directly into your own, bearly an inch or more to separate the two, was not one of those things.

"Can I....help you?" Torinn asks in an unsure tone, caught completely off guard by this.

Torinn's question seemed to break the girl out of whatever trance she was in because the widest grin appears on her face.

"Wow! I've never seen a Dragonborn before! What's it like having scales? Can you actually breathe fire?" The questions came one after the next in rapid succession, leaving the stunned Torinn with no time to respond.

"Nora! Where are you?" a voice yells from across the room.

"Coming, Ren!" Nora yells back, removing herself from atop the laying form of Torinn and then skipping away while humming a tune.

Torinn stares after Nora, finding the entire encounter strange but decided to not dwell on it. Instead, he got up from his blanket, ready to start the day.

After changing into his armor, he went towards the lockers to retrieve his shield and ax, only to find a note on his locker that said his weapon and shield were put elsewhere because they couldn't fit.  Made sense, since Torinn's Ax alone was over six feet in length and was double-headed while the shield was was a titanic sized tower shield. Unlike many, he hasn't given them names yet. After finally retrieving his ax and shield, he returned to the lockers.

And it seems he arrived just in time hear another conversation happen between two sisters.

"So! You seem awfully chipper this morning." Yang says to her little sister.

"Yep! No more awkward small talk or 'getting to know you' stuff." Says Ruby as she pulls Crescent Rose out of her locker. "Today I get to let my sweetheart do the talking." She cradles her weapon tenderly like one would an infant, gushing happily over it.

"Well, remember Ruby, you're not the only one going through initiation." Yang reminds her. "If you want to grow up, you're going to have to meet new people and learn to work together."

"Ugh, you sound like Dad!" Complains Ruby. "Okay, first of all, what does meeting new people have to do with fighting? And secondly, I don't need people to help me grow up. I drink milk!"

"A good choice for protein."

"Exact....eep!" Ruby jumps into Yang's arms again. The two sisters swerving their heads to see Torinn standing behind them.

"My apologies for startling you," Torinn says with a bow.

Ruby gets down from her sister's arms, her face red from embarrassment, "i-it's okay."

"Hey, Big Guy." Greets Yang with a thumbs up and a wink, "Looking good there."

"Thank you, Miss Long." Says Torinn.

"Anywhere, sis, what about when we form teams?" Yang asks Ruby before they were interrupted.

"I don't know, I'll be on your team or something..." Ruby says nervously. 'or maybe Torinn's...' She thinks with a blush.

"Maybe you should try being on someone else's team?" Suggests Yang.

"My dearest sister Yang, are you implying that you do not wish to be on the same team as me?!" Accuses Ruby.

W-what?! No! Of course, I do, I just thought... I don't know, maybe it would help you break out of your shell!" Explains Yang.

"What the?! I don't need to break out of my shell," Ruby yells defensively, "that's absolutely-"

"Ridiculous!" Yells Joan, walking past the two sisters, gaining Torinn's attention as she does. "There's no way I put my gear in locker 636 yesterday?! I would've remembered having to count that high! Ugh, why does this have to happen today?!"

"Perhaps I can be of some assistance, Miss Arc?" Inquires Torinn, the Dragonborn Fighter stepping next to Joan.

Joan jumps a little, surprised at the Torinn's sudden appearance, but calms down quickly. "Oh, hey Torinn. Just having some trouble finding my locker."

"And which number is your locker?" Asks Torinn.

"Locker 636," Joan tells the Dragonborn.

Torinn begins looking around the locker room, his eyes quickly catching the number Joan was looking for. He taps Joan on the shoulder and points.

"Oh, there it is! Thanks, Torinn!" Joan says in gratitude as she heads towards her now found locker.

"Your very welcome, Miss Arc," Torinn replies with a smile, happy to have been of assistance. He then turns to go find Ruby and Yang but pauses his search before it really began when he sees Wiess Schnee speaking to a tall red-headed young woman in bronze armor. He decides to talk to the Schnee Heiress and hopefully start on better footing. "Miss Schnee."

Wiess, shaken out of her scheme of teaming up with the girl beside her and becoming the best duo in all of Beacon, turns to glare at the Dragonborn, "oh, it's you."

Torinn ignores the cold greeting from Weiss, proceeding with what he wanted to say, "Indeed, I am here to apologizes once again for my clumsiness from earlier, Miss Schnee, and hope to restart our relationship on better footing." He clenches his fist and holds it against his chest while bowing, "My name is Torinn, son of Sulhazar, son of Donaar. A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Miss Schnee."

Weiss is taken aback by Torinn's apology, her mouth opening, and closing without a word escaping. Torinn, on the other hand, continues to simply bow, and wait.

He didn't have to wait long. Weiss soon regained herself and cleared her throat, "Well, I...accept your apology, Torinn." She says softly, looking off to the side bashfully.

"Thank you, Miss Schnee," Torinn says with a smile. He looks at the tall red-headed young woman next to Weiss, who was silent during the exchange, "and what is your name, Miss...?"

"Wait, you don't know who this is?!" Weiss asks incredulously.

Torinn shakes his head, "No. Should I?"

"This is Pyrrha Nikos!" Exclaims Wiess.

Said girl waves, "Hello!"

Torinn gives the two a blank stare.

"Pyrrha graduated top of her class at Sanctum." States Weiss.

Torinn's expression didn't change.

"She's won the Mistral Regional Tournament four years in a row... A new record!" Wiess continues, irritation beginning to enter her voice.

Torinn raises a single eyebrow (seriously, are they eyebrows or eye-ridges?!) but otherwise doesn't comment.

"She's on the front of every Pumpkin Pete's Marshmallow Flakes cereal box!" Weiss yells while waving her arms in anger at Torinn's ignorance.

Torinn tilts his head, "What is... Cereal?" He asks in curiosity.

Weiss smacked her forehead in disbelief while Pyrrha giggled, finding Torinn's response cute.

"Would all first-year students please report to Beacon Cliff for initiation?" The voice of Glynda Goodwitch announces over the intercom. "Again, all first-year students report to Beacon Cliff immediately."

"Well then, time for the main event, it would seem." States Torinn.

And done!

Hope you all enjoyed this chapter! I was originally going to keep this to two parts but after writing for a little while I decided to expand it to three. So the next chapter will be the third and final part will cover the events within the Emerald Forest (by the way, why did they name it the Emerald Forest when the tree has red leaves?! It doesn't make any sense!)
