Will's family consists of 5 people. His mom, dad and 2 younger sisters. In 2006, 68.6% of families were married couples and his parents were part of this group. His mom, Linette is a kind woman who always wants what's best for her family. She works to provide for her family and would do anything for them. Will's father, Edmund, is also a kind man, who is always looking out for his family and wants to protect them in every way he can. He also works to provide for his family. He is an immigrant and sometimes finds it difficult to connect with his children, as they grew up differently than he did, but her tries his best. This family is similar to Contemporary Canadian Families in history because his father was an immigrant who fell in love with a Canadian woman and had children.
Both of Will's parents had decided to work as it would benefit them to have more money to take care of the family, making them a dual-income family. This is an example of the exchange theory. This is because both the parents have decided to work at the cost of having someone to look after their child. They will be spending less time with their children, but they will be making more money to help support their children and provide a wonderful life for them.
William's two sisters, Ella and Cecily, also love him dearly. They would do anything for him and will protect him at whatever costs. William loves his family and is always looking for ways to help them in any way he can. He helps his parents with house work and he helps his sister with school work and any problems they might have at school. He is like a parent to his sisters and they trust him with their life. Will is also the one who taught them most of what they know, especially the youngest one, Cecily. His parents started working more after they had her, since they needed more money to support the family. This is an example of System Theory. This is because, since William's parents are always working, he has had to take on the role of a parent to his two younger sisters. Since he is the one taking care of this sisters, they look to him more whenever they need help, but sometimes he wishes that his parents would also look after his sisters so he can live a normal life.
Even though his parents aren't around as much because of their jobs, their children know how much they love them. Whenever the family gets a chance they will go out on little trips together, go out to eat or do something new for all of them to create memories with.
