(As you can see, this is not Spellwell or Madamspellman. I started writing this months ago and kept deleting it. I finally finished it and I'm even considering writing a whole fic to this. That's if you guys like it though.)

Evaline Meeks knew something was up with Mary the minute she walked into her office wearing a tight dress and bright red lipstick.
Evaline had befriended Mary over that year and found herself quite fond of the woman. Her late husband would have never approved of the infactionation she had with the woman but that man wasn't around anymore, so she followed her instincts. Flirting here and there. It was hard for a woman in her late forties to flirt. She felt like a love sick teenager. Mary was always nice to her. Their friendship grew more and more over the past few months. Hidden glances at each other left one another tinted red.

But when "Mary" entered her office that day, Evaline knew that wasn't her friend. The woman acted as if she hadn't the slightest clue who she was and treated her just as a coworker.

Once "Mary" became principle, the woman seemed to push her away even further. Using her job to the full advantage. This left Evaline sad and alone again like she had been the years before Mary.

Evaline tried her best to ignore the ache she now had in her heart for the woman. She came to work everyday, put papers on the woman's desk, organized her schedule and did the things any school secretary would.

Today, Evaline would be in for a surprise.

She came into work with a headache but wore a smile. Evaline hated coming into work with bad energy so she kept her good mood up until she got home.

Evaline walked through the halls, needing to give the stack of fliers for the football game to Coah Craven. She walked quickly down the hall, softly humming to herself. She didn't stop till she noticed someone walking down the hall who appeared to be lost. Evaline called out to the woman and nearly dropped her stack of fliers when the woman turned around.

"Mary?" The woman was wide eyed and looked confused, as if she had never been in the school before.

"Evaline." Mary whispered before quickly making her way towards her.
Mary's cheeks glistened with past tears and fresh ones that were starting to fall.

"Oh, Mary." Evaline hugged the woman, holding her close. "What happened to you?"

Mary shook her head. "I don't know. I... I... woke up and went to eat at Dr. Cerberus' but once I got home I realized the cottage was different and everything seemed off." Mary held a hand to her mouth. She shook her head as she thought of how the cross was turned around, the chairs in different spots, the small blood droplets on the bathroom floor, the moldy food in the fridge, and the odd items scattered around her home. Well it didn't feel like her home anymore.

"How about I get you home. Just let me give these fliers to Coach Craven. We'll take the day off."

"But I have classes to teach and-" Evaline sighed, rubbing the woman's arm in a soothing motion.

"Not anymore, you don't." A look of confusion crossed her sharp features. Evaline brushed the statement away, telling Mary to go sit at her desk while she gives the fliers to Coach Craven.

Mary followed her orders, making her way towards Evaline's desk. She sat at one of the waiting chairs, pulling out her handkerchief. She was sure if Principle Hawthorne saw her like this, she would be in a whole lot of trouble.

It wasn't till she thought of the man did she notice the plaque on the door of his office. Mary circled left the handkerchief over her lens to make sure she was seeing the plaque right. Indeed she was. Her last name was engraved onto a thin silver strip across the door. Mary stood and moved closer to the office door.

She slowly opened it and was horrified to see all her belongings placed onto the desk and on the shelves that lined the office. She covered her mouth with her hand as she took in the sight.

Evaline rushed in at the perfect time to catch Mary into a hug.

"W-why is m-my stuff in here?" Evaline took in a deep breath. She hadn't the faintest clue what happened to Mary all those months ago but her friend was back and now she needed to be the one to fill her in on everything.

"Mary, You're... You're Principle now." Mary's eyes frantically scanned over the room but soon blurred when tears began to fall.
"Let's get you home."

Evaline slowly walked Mary to her car, letting the woman hold onto her for support.

The drive back to Mary's cottage was quiet. Evaline wished she'd know what was going through Mary's head. Evaline took a deep breath and wrapped Mary's shaking cold hand in hers.

Evaline had been genuinely shocked when she walked into the once cozy cottage. Mary slouched down in one of the stuffed chairs, kicking off her shoes. Evaline pulled a soft blanket over her.

"Do you want anything? Tea? Coffee? Something a bit stronger?" Mary began to cry, reaching out for the woman in front of her.

"I have no food. I have nothing in my kitchen." Mary cried into Evaline's chest.

"Well surely Adam had-" Evaline instantly felt her stomach turn when Mary looked up at her. Pain written on her loves face.

"Adam... Oh my god, Adam! He was supposed to be back in February... that's the other thing I can't figure out. How is it spring when I remember it distinctly being a few days before Halloween? Did Adam come back?" Evaline nodded, feeling guilty for reasons she couldn't understand.

"He did. For Valentines day. He stayed for a month and then vanished. Surely you remember him being here? He brought you flowers?" Mary shook her head. Things weren't adding up and she felt as if something very sinister had happened to her and that's why she couldn't remember anything.

"You have to stay with me, Evaline. I don't want to be here alone." Evaline nodded, stroking the back of Mary's head as she continued to cry.

Evaline went out that night to get a few groceries for Mary. Once she returned, she was a bit surprised to see Mary in a silk white nightgown with a yale blue sweater over top, first button done up. Mary had let down her hair, brushing through it with her still shaky hands.

"I bought some things for breakfast in the morning. I'll go out tomorrow to get you more. I didn't want to be gone too long." Mary smiled kindly and Evaline's heart throbbed. She hadn't seen that smile in months and was relieved to have it back.

"Thank you, Evaline. I don't know what I would do without you." Mary reached for her. Evaline let the small woman wrap her arms around her and bury her face into her neck. Evaline sighed. She could get used to holding Mary like this.

"Have you eaten anything?" Mary shook her head. "Would you like me to make eggs right now?" Mary nodded. Evaline slowly placed the woman down onto the couch, wrapping her in a soft blanket to keep her warm.

Mary watched Evaline as she made her eggs with a gleam in her eye. Mary didn't know what had happened to her but she did know that she'd be comforted and protected by Evaline from now on.

I know it's not the best thing but... it's good enough for now I guess lol.
Also, side note, Yale Blue is a colour! If you search Yale Blue Sweater, It's not the sweaters for the university lmao! It's just a shade of blue!
Michelle wore a yale blue sweater in her "I'm inside Kermit" video and I thought I would throw it in here because she is in fact, dressed as Mary in that video.
