10 A New Beginning

A New Beginning - Act One

The crawl should catch us up on what took place between movies, not be a summary of the movie itself; however, it may have some hints... I might write one based on some of the things I've said. This is a reminder to do so.

The story begins with the Falcon flying into the atmosphere of Coruscant. We see a slightly devastating scene of the Jedi Temple in ruins. Lando helps Jannah find her parents in what's left of the library while a 2-B1 medical droid does blood tests. He hopes she's his long lost daughter who was taken by the First Order. They, along with Finn, help find and recover the children that were also kidnapped by the First Order. 

- Rey appoints Rose as General Tico to alternate with Finn. Rey began training Finn before the movie.
FINN: They were right; those that said I had a romantic thought toward you as we were sinking in the sinking fields on Pasaana. At first, I wanted to say something but I know we're friends brought together for a greater purpose. I did want to ask you to train me. That is the greater purpose I thought of.

Rey went back to the island on Ahch-To with Threepio in tow, as her translator. She speaks to the natives and gathers some things of Luke's from them. 

Where the tree was, there is a hidden cavern, now revealed by its absence. She senses she has to go in. She has to swim through part of the cavern.
REY: I don't know how to swim! I mean, what I did before... that thing I told everyone about in the cave... that was just... not drowning.
THREEPIO: Kick, pushing the water with your feet and use your arms and hands to push yourself through the water. [makes the motions of swimming, then hands her a breather] Take this. It will help if the way is longer than you can hold your breath. Be careful not to swim up from depths too fast or you will cramp your diaphragm and lung muscles and I cannot help you from here. I will wait on the surface here, near the entrance. BB-8 could offer you a lifeline if he were here.

Rey places the breather in her mouth and walks into the water. She uses the walls and swims, a bit awkward at first but she soon gets the hang of swimming enough to move forward better, a bit like a salamander, then more in synch like a fish, still using the walls to push faster. Thankfully, there's a bit of a glow from luminescent microbes on the cave walls - at least enough to see the walls themselves and enough to see through the water aways in others...not that there's much to see. Occasional small schools of minnows or slightly larger predators. Nothing threatening in this small space but it could be a little claustrophobic at times.

Cut Scene: Janna, Finn, Lando, and some others run into trouble and there's a struggle... something exciting enough to keep the pace of the movie interesting. Breaking through the first line of defense - First/Final Order cronies.

Up into a squared-off ramp of the cave, she ascends out of the water, the ceiling and walls, still rounded into a doorway and a larger room she can't see the walls in, but pillars also have luminescent lichens-type growths on them. She goes to ignite her saber, but it doesn't work. The switch is shorted by water. She opens the pack of Luke's things hoping for something to light her way and see the walls when Yoda speaks. She instinctively finds something round and pushes the switch on it, nearly stabbing herself in the leg with his green-bladed saber. A swirl of steamy water vapor rolls off her pant leg and the walls, if there are any, absorb the light like glass with only streaks and spots of reflection that are hard to judge distance by. The light Yoda emanates is enough as she turns the saber off.

YODA: Prepared you must be, for the road ahead. Earned the ability, you have, to a connection between the Living Force and the Cosmic Force that the Jedi had long forgotten in their hubris we should have known. The Whills and the Shaman of the Whills have granted passage to the Jedi of the past into the Cosmic Force if they chose to leave their conscience behind. You have made this possible, releasing our obligation to resolve what we were meant to do in our lives.
REY: Master Yoda, what if I have questions or need help?
YODA: Begin anew, we may. Our purpose between the Cosmic and Living Force has been served. Called upon, you will be. Guide you, The One will.
REY: The One?
YODA: In time, you will know. Pass on my knowledge and wisdom to you, I will, as Leia, Luke, Obi Wan, Qui Gon, and many others of the past have.
