"In five, four, three, two..." Freddie counted down, just like he always did. Every weekend, he and the two people that meant the most to him, his friends Sam and Carly, assembled in Carly's apartment to shoot their popular web show. The intriguing thing about the show was that it had always been limitless in application, they could do whatever they wanted to. This was a free space where they could be creative and express their feelings in any way that they wanted too, and it was his job to capture it all on camera, for the amusement of the internet.

They all benefitted from the show. Not just them but this was their small contribution to the larger world. In moments of stress or darkness, people could turn to their corner of the internet to find amusement and maybe even some measure of comfort in it. Freddie remembers one episode where they had planned to read DMs from fans and had to cancel it because they could've never grasped the power they had on their platform. People messaging them about how their life had been affected by the show, how it gave them something to look forward to every week. There were even some rare cases in which they were told that their content had saved lives. That kind of message provides a sense of light in your own soul that has no equal.

And while all their viewers had benefitted from the show in some way, be it entertainment or something deeper, the show had done so much for each of them personally. Partnerships with brands and ad revenue were great sources of income for them all and being an internet celebrity had put them in many interesting situations where they each had grown in some unexpected way. Whether that was on a personal level or in a way that altered them as a collective.

They had done it all on this delightful little show, Icarly.com. From scaring teachers, to haunted houses. From wars with malevolent, vengeful nine year olds to botched matchmaking. That was the true beauty of their little corner of the internet, they existed in a state of jovial anarchy. They were sometimes malicious, sometimes harmless, and on many occasions displayed goodly behaviours. An unforgettable treat for their viewers enjoyment.

Nobody loved the show more than Sam, though. Samantha Joy Puckett, by far the most malevolent of the trio, yet also the most dedicated. Sam was brutally honest and never took time to mince words. She was a no bullshit, brass tacks person when the time came but she might not always make rehearsals for the show due to the odd run-in with the Seattle police force and misunderstandings with the legal system.

Today however, Sam seemed off. She kept moving her blonde hair and glancing past the camera at Freddie and back away to the camera quickly. It wasn't like her, usually Sam could concentrate on this broadcast but today Carly had to keep pulling her back in to have her focus on the task at hand. They did their usual tricks of pranking their doorman, Lewbert (who was as disgusting as his name would imply) and answering questions, half of which had been pre selected by Carly and Sam and the other half were chosen randomly during the broadcast by Freddie.

"First question," Freddie read aloud "This is from username "Heath_Ledger_Stan_459."

"I picked this one" Sam chimed in, smiling brightly at Freddie, not that he noticed "Hey ICarly! "I watch your show all the time and I have a big question, can your friend Gibby Rap?"  Gibby was a long time associate of theirs and he was known for his awkward mannerisms and amusing demeanor. "Well, let's find out!" Sam yelled and she pressed the button on her remote control that activated the sound effect of a cheering audience. Gibby then entered. He had a large amount of hefty, fake chains around his neck, an Eminem baseball cap on sideways, a fake mink coat from the thrift store, and his most gaudy pair of sunglasses.

"How you feeling, Monsieur Gibbs?" Carly asked

"This coat is baking me alive!" Gibby groaned under the hefty clothes. "I feel like Hansel in an oven full of gingerbread!"

"Sam!" Carly said after a minute had passed "your line!" Sam never had to be reminded, something was most definitely wrong. But what could be clouding her focus so?

"What? Oh! Right." Sam sputtered "well lets see you turn up the heat in here, MC Gib-Man!"

Later, Freddie was alone in his room, looking over and editing the footage. He was concerned about Sam, he didn't know why, but he was. Sure, she treated him horribly, and was often violent and unpleasant, but he had an undeniable fondness of her that he couldn't deny. Not to himself, nor to anyone else. Sure in the past he had harbored feelings for Carly, but he had a brief romance with Sam which still lingered with him, especially after it ended, and they said their goodbyes. He still remembers what happened that night, how could he forget it? It was one of, no, it was the single best night of his entire life!

(Flashback)

"I love you," Freddie had said to Sam as she left the elevator.

The unlikely duo of Sam and Freddie had just wrapped up a lengthy conversation about their relationship and how it would not, and could never work out. Freddie was far too tame, and Sam could be an absolute monster sometimes. In the end it was too difficult, and though it had ended on good terms, like all good things, that chapter of their lives came to a satisfying close.

"I love you, too." Sam had responded.

Neither of them believed what was happening, but they were back in each others arms, and shared a brief kiss. Freddie took note of the time. It was only ten thirty, and Sam then suggested that they postpone their break up until midnight. No sooner had they entered the elevator, then they were wrapped up in a passionate embrace. As the elevator went up, so did their excitement, and their desire to be as close to the other as possible. They went into the upstairs studio where they filmed the show, under their friends nose, and spent the most exciting of evenings together. While Carly slept, they did things that should have awoken her. They kissed and shared a long embrace that only got more heated and more passionate. Clothes went flying, neither had found a sock in the morning. Midnight arrived and they ignored it. Even after they had finished their deeds, they just lied there held each other, in body and in soul by the light of the moon. And when all was said and done, dawn was the only thing that came too soon, but Sam still came first!

(Resume)

Freddie, smiled as he thought of their interactions on that night. He truly had always loved Sam, and at that point in life his feelings were reciprocated and magnified. His dark eyes moistened at the bittersweet recollection of affection and tenderness. Even though it was over, and they both walked away, he still longed for her. He missed her company, her smile, the feeling that he was loved by somebody. He thought to himself that perhaps, on day, the two of them would get back together. Unlikely, it was unlikely he believed, but as he viewed the footage, Freddie arrived on a frame in which he noticed something, something that had slipped past him while filming, and his mouth hung wide in shock! This was amazing! How could he have missed this! It was incredible, but why?
