Hello everyone! Wow..long time no write! We'll no need to fret! Kiran's here! *fist pumps in air*
Okay, now today we'll be covering the topic of...drum roll please...Character developent!
Hmm, not as excited? Well, I totally understand. Alot of writers have trouble making their characters 3-D, as if you could acctually imagine them doing everday things. Like, going to the diary, walking to school, sitting at home watching Tv. It makes the reader intriuged to learn more about this character, right?
Well, unfortunently, it's not that easy! People often get stuck trying to give their character depth. For example, lets go back to the (horrible) story about an ordinary girl falling in love with an incredibly hot vampire. So you have your plot, and you have planned (as you saw from the last chapter) what action will happen in this scene: 'Okay, so the girls going to be walking down the street when suddenly the vampire comes and saves her from an enemy vampire sneaking up behind her!' Okay, good so far.(I guess) But what happens alot of them time is that writers get too caught up in all the action, and you forget to mention how the character feels, and whats going through their head.
Tip:
When writing, make sure you put your self in your characters shoes. How they would think, how they would feel, what they would do next. Imagine yourself as the character going through all these things. Lets use the vapire story again. Imagine your the girl thats just run home after being saved by the vampire, and you need to write this all down so you know that what just happened is real. It really helps you 'get into character'.
Trick:
Have you heard of the Wattpad groups? Well, in the 'Improve Your Writing' club, you can find heaps of discussions called 'The Character Development Game.' Every heard of them? Well, they're great help! What happens is that someone will ask a question directed towards your character. Eg. Whats your favourite way to pass time? In which your character could reply saying: I don't have anytime to spare these days. Not since I met Edward/Stefan/Damon/Some other old fashion name. Afteryou've answered the question, you then write another question such as 'Who is your idol?' In which another person will answer and ask. And the chain goes on! Get it? It's a really helpful and fun way of finding more out about your character! Check it out!
Caution:
Make sure when you're writing you don't get your voice and your characters voice mixed up. Don't worry, alot of writers have this trouble! For example: If your character has just found out that her boyfriend is a vampire, would she run away like you would in real life if this happened, or would she stay and find out more? As I said in the Tip imagine that your writing as the character, not that your writing a story for Wattpad!
Okay well, that's all for today! Noooo, time for school! If ony holidays would come sooner..(even though school only started a week ago, lol.) But oh well! One day at a time,I guess. Anyway, you be enjoying your day, and I'll write a new chapter sometime this week. Byeee!
Ps: Sorry if there are some mistakes, my keyboard is breaking as I speak :/
