What Kindness Can Bring

Chapter 15, Going Home

Time skip: 4 days

A few days pass from the time Rotte and I first met, to be honest I've taken a liking to her joyful attitude. She always has a smile and is willing to help others in need, to my surprise she even helps her staff from time to time. Although Rotte is a princess, her attitude is not spoiled or judgmental. My small 5 day vacation was filled with happy memories all thanks to her. It's time to to back, guess it's bye for now.

While packing up I tell Rotte my plans for when I return, "My time to leave is at the morning tomorrow, when I come back I'll get the book Effie asked for and the picture you wanted."

She smiles in response while falling asleep, "Goodnight then."

I pull out my camera and review the pictures that are on it. They seem quite convincing, the 100 or so pictures are enough to prove I'm not just in a different part of the forest so there's a good chance he'll believe me.

Putting my camera back inside my bag I double-check to make sure nothing is left behind. Revolver, USP, canteen, flask, bayonet, suspenders, and my tentcoat are all ready to go.

Turning my head to the side at Rotte, "I have to sleep, but she's on the bed.."

With a sigh of annoyance I unpack my coat and position myself on the edge of her bed and wrap myself up.

Waking up I look around, "Rotte?" From the corner of the room she walks towards me while holding a cup of warm milk in her hands, "Were you worried about me?"

A dull expression forms on my face, "Since when did you become my game save files?"

She looks at my face for a few seconds then starts laughing, "You're so funny!" I give her a confused look and respond, "Wha? How that happen?"

"I-I watched you sleep.." Rotte blushes and turns away from me, "Sorry.."

For a second I don't know how to respond. "Err... It's okay, there's no need to worry. I wouldn't hate you for that."

Suddenly it comes to my mind that today is when I go back, with a quick pace I pack my belongings and start for the door. "Rotte, It's time for me to return. Let's move."

We start moving down the hallway and are greeted by several staff who help in assisting us to the realm tree.

Effie and Ovav assists us in traveling to the tree surrounded by crystal clear water, I take a look at the sunshine then back at them.

"It was nice meeting you guys. Mostly you, Rotte." I look her in the eyes with a smile, "I'll see you again."

They all help her in opening the realm tree but before I can enter, Rotte pulls my arm. "Can I help drop you off?"

"Sure thing." I reply, everyone around us giggles at the scene.

We enter through as we freefall again, within seconds we end up back at the forest we met, "Alright. It's time we part ways for now, feel free to come back anytime!"

I watched her go back to the same tree we first met at, with a sad face she sat down and looked away. Feeling somewhat sorry for her I did the same and sat near her. "Soo..."

For a few seconds, I rethink where I am before realizing I'm back at the forest where many *battles* happened.

"Sorry.. I have to go." I stand up and start walking away but not before looking back at her, oddly I feel somewhat sad that we are not going to see each other for a few days. With that concluded I turn around and walk to my house to see my uncle on the front yard watering the plants.

Moving a few feet from him I wait until he notices me, my uncle looks behind him after hearing my boots crunching the grass. "Is that you- Jerald?"

He embraces me while holding back tears, "I thought I would never see you again! Where were you!?"

I look around to make sure nobody is watching, "We have to go in the house for me to tell you that."
