ROY'S PERSPECTIVE

When John and I pull up in the squad, I see a gigantic building burst in flames. It's fully involved.
Fire through the roof. John and I jog to the chief.
"What happened?" John asks.
"The people who own this house are, or were going to... sell it. They were holding an open house and all of a sudden, the thing burst into flames. Can't figure out why. The police are investigating." The chief answers.
I nod and turn to Johnny. "Let's grab our oxygen tanks and get in there."

----------------------------------------

I find a room and pound on the door. "Is anyone in here?" I yell. I hear a moan that sounds a little like "help."
I try to open the door, but it's stuck, so I have to kick it down. When I get in there, a man is holding his leg that's caked with blood.
"My son..." He moans. And conveniently, johnny comes rushing in. "Nobody in that other room. And I'm lucky. As soon as I got out, the fireplace exploded. It left covered Engineer Wood from station 127." I can see that Johnny's worried, just because I know him so well. "I told the Chief on the handy talkie, and the guys from 10 are rescuing him now." He looks to the boy and kneels beside him. "Are you hurt, son? Are you in any pain?" He asks him. The boy shakes his head. "Just my left arm, I fell on it, and it might be broken. "All right." Johnny says. I leave him and deal with the gunshot victim. I wonder who shot him? And who exploded the fireplace?
I kneel beside him, put him over my shoulder, and get him out of there. I put him in the ambulance and ride off with him. I grab the biophone and put the phone to my ear. "Rampart, this is squad 51..."
I hear Dixie's low, cool voice. "Go ahead 51."
"Rampart, we have a gunshot victim. Approximate age 44. Right calf. fully conscious. Pulse 110. Respiration 32. Blood pressure 120 over 70. We are en route to your location."
"10'4, 51." Dixie says.
