The heart that I thought was mine

Chapter 1

Being in each other's arms, their heartbeats create a steady and soothing beat. This was a daily routine in Jungkook's and Areum's life. They didn't get to spend that much time together due to their work but once in each other's embrace it felt like time stopped every time. Talking about what had occurred during their day to keep each other updated. They certainly weren't the couple that kept secrets, they hid nothing which made their bond stronger.

They were living in a small apartment enough to fit two people. They had talked about moving into a bigger house. One that they could purchase to be far away from the noisy neighbours surrounding them on both sides, upstairs and downstairs. Despite the small disturbances, they wanted to buy a new house when they were sure it was the time to settle into a marital relationship. Wedding talks were constant in their lives, they couldn't bear to see each other apart at any cost.

The couple met in university a few years ago, at first they weren't on good terms, they hated each other which would be hard to believe when seeing their relationship at the moment.

Jungkook was a bit reckless and also one of the popular guys. Areum wasn't any less she had everyone tied up to her hand. Their high titles in school was the reason why they didn't really get along. If one wanted to take part in an activity then the other would run to do the same. Constant competition, constant bickering it truly never stopped.

That one day, the cafeteria was loud as always and the soccer team was tossing the ball all around the room. Jungkook might not be in the team but he was the one that was good at absolutely everything. As one of the guy threw the ball to Jungkook, which he kicked back without any second thoughts. The ball had a mind of its own and ended right in Areum's food platter causing everything inside to fly all around, including on her. She was definitely not delighted with what had just happened and so a loud "Jeon'' was heard through the cafeteria causing everyone to fall silent. Areum glared at the boy that caused this mess his eyes wide open looking back in surprise.

"Fuck I'm sorry I didn't mean it" he said rushing to her side

"Right you surely didn't."

"I'm serious don't you see I really didn't mean it. It was an accident"

"Were all the other times also an accident? Cut it out Jeon everyone knows that you love to mess with me hope you're happy now"  she said glaring at him and then at her messed up clothes

"Oh please, everyone knows that YOU love to mess with me. It goes both ways Areum, don't make me the bad guy here"

"Whatever"

"Whatever seriously? Your only response? I literally apologized to you what more do you want"

"Jeon I don't want to argue with you. I'm not in the mood for all this and definitely don't want to do this talk in front of everyone" and so she left like that but after that cafeteria incident things slightly started changing. Jungkook spent more time looking at Areum than anything else. He honestly felt bad, the constant bickering was a facade when deep inside he felt something for the girl. However, Areum didn't bother with the doe eyes that were looking at her at every instance. It went on for about the whole year doesn't mean that they stopped their constant bickering that slightly became flirtatious.

The end of the year dance was coming up and everyone was busy in preparations. Every corner you would go to you would see students ready to present their proposals to their chosen dates in hopes that they would accept.

Areum was seen with her groups of friends outside where the benches were set. The weather was brighter with the sun illuminating every corner of the land. Suddenly music started playing and Jungkook was seen appearing with a guitar strumming in unison with his voice letting all the lyrics fall out of his lips. You could say that everyone was stunned with what was just happening. Even more surprised when Areum was seen jumping into his arms accepting his proposal. After all those that were thought to be rivals were simply in love with each other.
