I walked slowly toward the utter despair that was the now abandoned Solar Energy center in the middle of nowhere. I saved this place back when I was in leagues with the NCR - before I saw the bureaucratic cesspit that it was. Back before I was who I am now. Before I stood upon the endless bodies laid upon the Hoover Dam by those freaks playing coliseum. I opened the now broken doors with the heel of my boot and walked into the bloodshed. I looked on in disgust as I realized that this post wasn't abandoned, it was slaughtered. I quickly crouched down to avoid detection and continued, dodging a tripwire connected to a grenade on my way through the door.

I counted 6 bodies in the first room. Four of them were NCR Troopers, not too special, but the fifth body - it was something different. I looked upon the bloodied body of an NCR Ranger Veteran in complete astonishment. These soldiers were demons in combat, they even gave me a hard time when not directly in my face. I put my hand to my mouth in complete surprise. The right visor glass had been shot out, it seemed like it was a laser mark, but it wasn't a laser I recognized. The smell of ionized air wasn't quite there. It was in the room, but the stench wasn't abundant on the helmettle of this ranger. I heard something shift behind me, and quickly sprung up and unholstered my Big Iron. The person behind me, though, was not someone I thought I would see.

"Courier. It's... odd to see you here. Were you the one to do this? This destruction? You must have, the ranger you're hanging over, that's no average enemy." The man stated. My grip wavered upon finally noticing who it was. Initiate Stanton, now Ex-Knight Stanton. I had helped him quite a while ago, finding a laser pistol in scorpion gulch.

"No, I've just gotten here, pal. Trying to find out who did it myself. Do you got any clues that I could use. I don't even recognize this type of laser, and I know my lasers, and I should assume you do, too." I remarked.

The man holstered his gun, as did I. I looked stiff, if not fearful, for a moment before speaking up. "I've seen these energy marks before. I never found out who used them or what emitted them, though. It seemed to be a very advanced form of Tesla weaponry, as it's very-very-very-very-very condensed. It would be like a hand-held lightning strike. Definitely not Legion, not NCR - though I know you know that, and not Brotherhood." I pushed my hair back. This was an insane discovery. New tech taking out a whole station of people - of rangers. But I still had a question. "If it would be like a hand-held lightning bolt, why aren't they - uh... cooking?" I asked. It was a serious question. And it doesn't smell enough like Ozone, but I didn't ask those. I needed to get upstairs.

"It seems like... I - I don't know. This tech, it's very new. Either that or it's a Pre-War tech that wasn't even issued to the government. You go ahead, I'll check on all of this. Because this is a mess."

I said I agreed and continued on upstairs. I saw the normal AER and Plasma blasts. It was a little surreal. There's only a select few who could do this. There's so many at this camp. I walked to the last room before the Solar Viewing Platform, and noticed something. It was like a shard of metal on the holo-map on the table. I had never payed attention to this map before, but I noticed that it was a map of some far away city. There were pyramids on it. But I looked at the piece of metal ruining the display. It was an ovalloid bowl-shape. It fit pretty well into my hand. There was some burned and destroyed tech inside the the cup of the shape. I stuffed it into my pocket and moved on. I started opening the doors to the Solar Power Observation Deck, and as soon as those doors opened a blast shook the whole building.

The tower responsible for the power collapsed. I ran out of the control room and zoomed towards the lobby.

"Stanton! Stanton! We need to get out of here! This whole place is rigged to explode!" I yelled. I ran to the door and looked to my left, and saw Stanton, with a plasma blast in the heart of his power armor. He was dead, gone, reduced to ashes beneath his metal grave. I knelt down and took his helmet. As a remembrance. I quickly flew past the gates and stood back on the road as this monument to technology went down in ash and flame.

A/N: God I hate Wattpad's formatting system. This is the first chapter in a series that will be exploring the Enclave in the Mojave. I hope to aim for 1000 words a chapter. See you!
