So quick backstory, I had to write this poem for English class last week and it's from an actual short story, it is not my own! It is not supposed to rhyme so please don't get on me because of that! I don't remember the original title or the author... but if I find it I'll put it in here.

Thank you!

The open window

The open square

Patches of blue sky

The delicious breath of rain

Near her

The notes of a distant song

Young

With a fair, calm face

A dull stare in her eyes

There she would live for herself

"Free, free, free"

Wild abandonment

The storm of grief

All aquiver

Had spent itself

In a very elixir of life

A sob came up into her throat

Her husband's death

A paralized inability

A quick prayer

A feverish triumph in her eyes

She died of heart disease

Of joy that kills
