Riley sprung onto the cozy bed inside her room. Pillows were thrown in a corner of the mattress , a bookshelf sat beside the bed, filled with various reads. Fairy lights were strung up on the railings of the bed frame. Snuggling under her pillow, was a fluffy teddy. A "welcome" sign was placed on a glass round table. Her room, was perfect.
"Now that you're all settled, you can get ready for class, and meet a few of my friends!" Hope rushed into Riley's room. Her suitcase was unpacked, essentials set into their places, lotions on the wooden shelves of her closet, dresses neatly hanged. The minute she set her foot inside the pink fantasy of a room, she knew it was hers. Decorating every inch and corner.
"Yes, I am coming. Excited to attend classes! I already went around this entire school as I came for the entrance!" Riley was seated on her bed,
"You wrote an entrance exam?"
"Not exactly. you see, Queen Barbie knows my kingdom really well, and they wanted to show me around prior before I start my year here. And every student had to attend an entrance. We don't exactly write the exam, we show our capabilities and talent."
"You slashed something with your beloved sword?" Hope giggled.
"Not just any sword." Riley's eyes twinkled, as she opened up a golden scabbard from a hazel fake leather bag studded with pearls. Out she pulled, a glowing sword, something so magnificent when it meets the eye. The blade shone a million sparkles, sharp and dainty. Sun beams shot from the center handle, and the entire sword had a magical aura.
"Woah... I've never seen anything so-" Hope's attention didn't waver away from the sword, as she was staring at its every detail.
"-Wonderful? I know, right, It's called the "blade of light", passed from generation to generation."
The Blade of light is one of the most treasured things the Glimore family owns. The Royal family is told to protect and keep safe the sword, and pass it down as generations come by, years go by. The mystical weapon is told to be only used to important situations. Riley couldn't keep her eye away from it ever since it was gifted to her.
"You inherited it?" Hope asked, glancing at her friend.
"Yes."
"That's so cool! Well, now come along! I need to introduce you to everybody" Hope skipped. Her friend grabbed a hazel pouch with a sling.
"And then what, tell everyone that I'm the 'Sword Girl'. There's more to me , ya know."
"Yeah, yea. Now come quick. Nina is probably waiting for us."
The clock struck signalling that an hour had passed. It was half past eleven and all the students were bustling around, meeting friends and getting to know the whereabouts of the castle. Teachers hurried from classroom to classroom, setting up their space before classes begin the very next day.
Hope and Riley found Nina, munching frosted cupcakes next to the cafe. She was holding a tray filled with freshly baked cupcakes, decorated with sprinkles and cherries on top. Sarah, the school baker grinned as Nina gushed about her baking skills. "Miss Sarah, how do you even- These cupcakes are delish!!. The frosting just melts in my mouth"
"I'm glad you like it, Nina!"
Hope and Riley rushed in front of her, Hope excited to chatter about with her friend, Riley thrilled to befriend her.
"Hi girls! Oh, who are you?" Nina's face was covered with crumbles of cupcakes and frosting. "Nina, this is Riley."
"Hey there! I've heard of you, you're one with the sword, right?" Nina brushed off the sprinkles.
