Chapter 10: Believe

Fionna’s POV

It’s already dawn, the rain finally stopped. Good thing we found a shelter to stay for the night, it’s an old abandoned tree house. I went out early to find something to eat. Luckily I found apples for us. I quickly returned to the tree house so we can eat the apples. When I got back, little Marshall was still sleeping, lying on the floor with his teddy bear. I grabbed the apples that I placed inside my backpack, I ate one and sat beside Marshall. This little Marshall is so cute, he’s so young and innocent to know what’s happening right now. How could that Simone leave him? Only a monster can leave this little demon on its own. It must’ve been so hard for him to lose everything he has. When I was about to take a bite from the apple, little Marshall starts to wake up.

“ughhhhhhh….” He groaned. He opened his eyes then when he saw that I was eating an apple, he quickly asked me for some. I gave him the red most one, he was so happy for it. He ate the apple like he hasn’t ate one before. It was a peaceful day, so nice that I could not think that something wrong will happen. Then Marshall spoke.

“Fionna?” He said.

“Hmm?”

“Do you think Simone’s okay?”

“Oh. Well, we can never be sure about that, Marshall. We’ll never know what had happened to her.”

“But… She… promised she’ll be okay. She said that to me right before she left me. And… and… she said that she will come back.” He’s crying again. Maybe that Simone really do care about Marshall. Because if she’s not, Marshall wouldn’t be this sad about her.

“You know, Marshall.” I hugged him from behind. “Sometimes, when I’m worried about something or someone. I’ll pray for it and hope that she or he will be okay. And I will not only pray or hope, I’ll believe on it. In that way, I wouldn’t be so worried about it. In that way, we can be sure that everything’s okay.”

“Believe on it..?” He said then he looked at me.

“Yeah. Believe. If you believe it, it’ll become in reality.” I wiped his tears, and looked at his face. “So let’s pray, hope, and believe that Simone is okay.” Then I smiled at him. And he smiled back.

“Okay.”
