~~~(Could it Be You by HWood)~~~
The back to school party on the beach is vibrating the entire city of L.A. The music is blasting from six feet tall stereos, the bottles of alcohol are quickly going hollow, and a huge bonfire sits in the middle where the partiers are gathered around minging, sucking face, and getting drunk.
Harrow Evans downs the rest of her tonic drink from her plastic red cup and wipes her mouth when she's done. Her long brown hair cascades down her back and her nude colored crop top plays tricks on the guys admiring her beauty. Her brown almond shaped eyes sparkle in the night- even if her vision is a little blurry.
"Slow down there." Liza Morrison advises from next to her, her first drink of the night still in her hand. "You're going to make a fool of us."
"Says the girl who's still on her first drink." Harrow points her finger at her. "And Harrow Evans doesn't make a fool of herself." She looks at the guys on the other side of the bonfire, watching her as if she's a lesbian porno they stole from the video store. "See? Everyone here will follow my lead."
"Uh, hi Harrow." A shrimpy kid with curly hair and glasses appears in front of Harrow, his eyes filled with hope- that is soon to be turned down. "I was just wondering-"
"Not going to happen." Harrow cuts in, looking him up and down. She turns her back on him to face her long lasting friend since seventh grade. "I already have upper classmen at my feet."
"You're such a bitch." Liza giggles, probably pretending to be drunk. Liza has distanced herself from drinking too much ever since a few months ago when they graduated from eighth grade. She came to the ceremony drunk and flashed the entire crowd her tits.
"Retweet." Harrow winks, someone across the beach catching her eye. She looks pass Liza to focus her eyes on the guy watching her. He has dread locks and smooth skin, his bottom lip pierced. He's wearing a loose tank top and jeans, his quiet brown eyes fixed on her. "Can I help you, freak?"
The guy doesn't change his facial expression. Instead, he disappears behind a group of fist pumping guys and Harrow rolls her eyes. "Let's get me another drink."Case Mercy throws back a shot of of fireball, his throat burning as the hot drink slithers down his mouth. He cheers with his best friend Israel Sepulveda after they do the shot together. Case blinks, feeling all the alcohol he's consuming sink in.
"Whoa." Case shakes his head, hoping for the alcohol to go away somehow.
"What's wrong, lightweight?" Israel takes another shot as if he's only drinking water. "Too much to handle?"
"Actually, not enough." Case grabs another shot from the large table after spotting a shirtless guy across the beach. He shakes the thought of enjoying the view out of his head as he does another shot.
"What do you think of Harrow?" Israel asks him, his own view being Harrow Evans across the bonfire.
Case follows his gaze to see that bitch Harrow that everyone adores. Case has never really known what was so admirable about her. Who enjoys being around a bitch that orders people to bow down? "Evans?"
Israel nods his head. "She's pretty cute, right?"
Case looks his friend up and down as if he has no clue who he's talking to. Israel is the type of dude to find the girl with the pierced nose and tattoos cute- NOT someone like Harrow. "Sorry dude." Case clasps his hand on his shoulder. "Just stick with skater chicks."
The guys take another shot under Case's request, hoping by the end of the night he'll hook up with a girl.
~~~(END SONG)~~~Kai Evans stands up the beach towards the boardwalk leading to his beach mansion. His arms are folded across his chest as he watches the party down by the water. The only reason it's getting thrown on the spot behind his house is because the police know not to come to the Evans residence to shut anything down. And it should stay that way. The Evans are ones to mess with.
"Shouldn't you be down at the party?" A voice says from somewhere in the night.
Kai squints through the dark, hoping it's no one relevant so they don't have to see his messy brown hair and his pale skin. He spots a college looking guy coming up to the boardwalk. His hair is covered up with a red backwards hat and he's wearing a zip up sweatshirt with no shirt on underneath. His shorts could be trunks and his bare feet are covered with little grains of sand. "Not really my scene."
"Parties too cool for you?" The guy comes further into the light from the moon above. His jawline looks as if it can cut paper and his eyes are an ocean blue, drawing Kai in.
"Maybe." Kai shrugs a shoulder and eyes him. It's no surprise that a college dude would be at a party his sister Harrow is throwing. She has been sneaking into college parties since the seventh grade and even lost her virginity to one. Kai tries not to hear too much about his sister's wild adventures but since he doesn't go on his own, he might as well get some stories from someone. "What about you? Avoiding the hardcore fist pumping or the slutty grinding?"
The guy chuckles, pulling the bill of the cap further down towards his back. "Actually, I was just on a walk. I'm not into all the partying."
Kai bites the inside of his cheek, resisting the urge to just jump his bones right now. He's not the type to do anything dumb or reckless but maybe starting to do things like that won't be such a bad thing. All summer, he has been finding things to write about around Beverly Hills but these last few weeks, he's been experiencing writer's block. He heard that people should write what they know.. and Kai wants to get to know this dude. "I'm Kai."
"Interesting." He nods his head.
Kai waits for him to introduce himself but he stays quiet. "Aren't you going to tell me your name?"
"Why would I do that?" He tilts his head as some girl's laugh echoes up from the party.
"That's just what people do when they first meet." Kai blinks.
~~~(Could It Be You by HWood)~~~
"But where's the mystery in that?" He asks before Kai realizes just how close they are. He can feel this dude's warm breath on him but he doesn't mind. Before Kai can stop himself, he dives in to a sloppy but great kiss. It's time to live a little.
