Case walks down the middle of the hallway at Seaview High School, his fingers entwined with Georgia's as he goes. Case feels the stares of the students off to the sides of the hall, staring at the school's new couple. Case is thankful that Georgia isn't going to spill his secret to everyone but that also means he has to go into damage control that was caused by Rhyannon. Case hasn't spoken to Rhyannon since the dance and honestly has nothing to say to him. He lost all respect for his friend's brother. On the bright side, Case managed to convince Georgia that they should stage being a couple in order for people to get thrown off if they start suspecting him to be gay.
"Thanks again for doing this." Case whispers to her when they turn down the deserted art hallway.
"Hey, it's a win-win." Georgia opens her locker after spinning the combo. "People think you're straight and I'm also making the other girls jealous."
Case chuckles. He's relieved to know that Georgia isn't just doing this for Case's benefit. As long as they're both getting something out of lying, he'll be okay with it. "Yeah, I agree."
"There are the two love birds." Rhyannon comes out of the 2D art class room. His long brown hair is in a sloppy bun and his black sweater has a hole in the shoulder. The smirk on his face proves that he hasn't forgotten about what happened at the dance and his eyes show that he doesn't plan to.
"I'll see you at lunch." Case kisses Georgia's cheek before turning away from Rhyannon to walk to class.
"So you're suddenly into chicks now?" Rhyannon catches up to Case.
"Yep." Case stares straight ahead.
"Dude, no one will care who you're dating, girl or guy." Rhyannon tells him seriously. "You're a freshmen. Not one person probably gives two shits about you."
"That's refreshing." Case responds sarcastically.
"Look." Rhyannon steps in front of him and looks him in the eyes. "It's 2016. People won't care."
"My brother could." Case shoots back. His brother Skylar is the only guardian he has of right now while his parents took off a few years ago. They were basket cases who didn't give two shits about Skylar or Case. Case knew it was best to just get a place with his brother instead of having to put up with them.
"He's your brother, he shouldn't mind." Rhyannon says as if things were that simple.
"I don't need advice from someone who tried to expose me." Case brushes pass him to go to class.Brooklyn heads towards her language arts class after third period. Her back pack is strapped to her bag and blocks out the noise from the gossip around her. Most of the school has been buzzing with the events from homecoming and Brooklyn can't help but roll her eyes after every single piece of scandal. She has her own things to deal with as of right now. She spilled out her feelings for Cambridge at the dance- how cliche- and he hasn't bothered checking up on her since. She doesn't expect him too either. It's not like he knows about her pregnancy or anything.
"Good morning, Brooklyn." Cambridge takes his seat next to Brooklyn in their language arts class.
"Don't you have someone else to harass?" Brooklyn responds dryly.
"You had a lot of mouth at the dance." Cambridge observes. "Nothing now?"
"Nope." Brooklyn answers. "Just do me a favor and don't bother talking to me. It would very much be appreciated."
"Feisty this morning, aren't we?" Cambridge opens his Romeo and Juliet book. "We can talk about what you told me at the dance if you want."
"I have nothing else to say." Brooklyn looks around for Mrs. Honka to start the class but she's not even in here yet. Bitch.
"Look, I'm sorry for making you feel like crap." Cambridge apologizes but Brooklyn isn't sure if he means it or not. "I didn't mean to make you feel that way."
"I don't care." Brooklyn barks. She had decided that staying mad at Cambridge will work better rather than forgiving him. If she forgives him, she might start acting on those feelings- which is the worst thing she can do since he's with Anna.
"Fine, don't talk." Cambridge rests his elbows on his desk. "But for the record, you and Jonah won't last."
Brooklyn tries to ignore the statement but she isn't strong enough to ignore it. She looks over at him. "Keep Jonah out of this."
"Why?" Cambridge tilts his head. "You brought him into this during the dance."
"You don't know him." Brooklyn defends Jonah.
"I don't need to know him." He shrugs a shoulder. "I just know you guys won't be anything for long."
Brooklyn opens her mouth to shoot something back but looks ahead of her instead. She shouldn't care about what Cambridge has to say and the more Brooklyn tries ignoring what he said, she can't help but wonder if he's right. She used Jonah at the dance to get back at Cambridge. How long are they actually going to last?
