The Double Jeopardy!

16. Awakening!

"How are you now Romi?" asked Aryan.

Romila was now in senses and heard faint voices of doctors and nurses. She looked around and realised, she was in hospital. "Aa-ru? When did you come? And is that monster in jail?" asked Romila.

Unlike she had imagined, she was strong enough to deal with that dangerous monster. She did not pity herself but yes she considered herself for the situation she was in. "I came just after 2 hours I recieved your message. I was in America itself but not in Madison. When I came in the given address, police had already begun the investigation. I saw you were lying unconscious and they were taking you to the hospital. I came along. Its been 18 hours since the incident. But Romila, they didn't find Savio there."

Romila was completely dumbstruck. "But how is that possible? I clearly remember he fell from the first floor and was lying there. Oh how I wish I could have killed that bastard!"

"Calm down. You are still not well. There are no records against Savio. I wonder if it is his real name. And police have found a blood filled clothes near the lake. Yesterday night, there were high currents. They assume he is dead."

But Romila wasn't convinced. She said, "I am sure he is not dead. He might be planning to kill some other girl now. Or rather me. I have hurt his ego. He will come for me."

"Romi Romi please control. I am with you. He won't come back. Please compose yourself." said Aryan as he hugged Romila.

Romila did not cry. She knew she was strong. She asked, "Where is grandpa and granny? I hope they aren't aware about all this. They will die!"

"They are aware about all these and have left for America. It is their sole right to know Romi. They are coming, and doctors have said you would be fine in couple of weeks."

Romila was sitting on the hospital bed analysising everything Savio said. He works as contract killer and for money. So it is obvious someone must have paid him to do all this with her. Someone she trusted alot. But who? Who can avenge so much? Who has so much anger to be taken off? And why? But she was relieved as Aryan was with her all the time.

But at the same time she could not trust him. Maybe he had done all this as she didn't return his love. She could not trust anyone. Except herself.
