Dear Sophia,

My senior year is coming to a close, and that means I'll be moving away. Mom and Dad want me to become a doctor, but my dream has always been to go to culinary school and become a chef. I applied to the Culinary Institute of America; it's the best culinary school in the US. They accepted me, but I have no idea how to tell Mom and Dad.

Love,

L

As the dust settled, Sophia and Will were still trying to fend off the Dark Sisters as Tessa watched in horror and suspense.

Tessa was so invested in the fight that she didn't notice when another figure crept up behind her. All Tessa could tell was that someone had placed their hand over her mouth. So naturally, Tessa bit them.

"Ow!" a male voice from behind Tessa yelped, removing their hand from Tessa's mouth. "She bit me!"

"Maybe you shouldn't try and cover her mouth without warning her, Henry?" Will grunted as he allowed his seraph blade to take the brunt of an attack caused by a Dark Sister's talons.

"You bit me," Tessa whirled around and was met with the sad and confused eyes of a red-headed man holding his hand close to his chest.

Before Tessa could say anything, whether and an apology or a scolding, Tessa was knocked in the head by an object a Dark Sister had tried to hurl at Sophia, who had dodged, but had hit Tessa instead.

With some indignation, Tessa crumpled to the stones beneath her. The Dark Sisters hesitated in their attack as they watched Tessa fall into a heap on the floor, and that hesitation was enough for Sophia to lop off Mrs. Black's head.

Will attempted to follow Sophia's actions, but Mrs. Dark had seen what Sophia had done to her sister and had attempted to back away, causing Will to only graze Mrs. Dark's leathery skin.

Sophia came up behind Mrs. Dark as she stumbled and stabbed her through the abdomen. Will and Sophia watched as Mrs. Dark fell down beside her decapitated sister before turning to the entryway Henry and Thomas had created.

"Are you alright, Sophia?" Will asked as he deactivated his seraph blade and tucked it away in his belt.

"Fine," Sophia responded, placing her own seraph blade in her belt.

Henry had placed Tessa in the back of the carriage, slumped against the wall, so Sophia opted to sit beside Tessa and support the unconscious girls' body as Thomas drove the carriage back to the Institute.

Once the carriage had rattled to the front doors, with the iron gates groaning behind them, Henry unloaded Tessa and carried her to the Infirmary as Will and Sophia went to inform Charlotte of the nature of their mission.

"Sophia, Will, you're back," Charlotte smiled as she looked up from her papers. "Is Henry alright? What happened on the mission?"

"Still worrying over your addle-brained husband, Charlotte," Will tutted, shaking his head and sinking into a nearby armchair. "He is a Shadowhunter, Charlotte. You shouldn't be too worried about him."

"Sophia?" Charlotte sighed, turning to Sophia, who had taken post beside Will's armchair, glaring down at him.

"We went to the brothel, and we found that it was abandoned," Sophia signed.

"Not completely abandoned," Will interjected, causing Sophia to smack him as she continued.

"We found a young girl, a few years young than I perhaps, and she informed us that the Dark Sisters had been keeping her captive in the building for some months," Sophia told Charlotte, who sat back in her seat with a thoughtful expression.
